This is not the actual rank tree, it's just a description of their functions. Still thinking of what to do with the magi and sciences ranks, so don't think I left them out:
The ranks of Dustari are sepreated into three core divisions, and the royal family.
The Royal family consists of one King, one Queen, a Prince and a Princess. The King is the head of stats, he makes all the decisions, along with the Queen. The Prince enjoys a smaller degree of autonomy the King does, as does the Princess. Although technically they are part of the township core, they are an independent body.
The military is the first core rank of the kingdom. The military is lead by the commanding officer, the General, or another title such as Field Marshal, Head Commander, or any other title he chooses. Becase he leads all forces, he has control over Commanders, Guard captains, and usually earns himself a place in nobility. Below the head of the military are 3-4 commanders, but they are subdivided into two sections. The first section is the militia Commanders, who train the militia. Usually the militia consists of new recruits to the kingdom and also some township workers in case of an emergency defense. They teach everyone basic skills, formations etc. Everyone in the militia is either a Militia or a Warrior, and while some people are full time militia, others move onto the standing army when their skills improve drastically. The standing army commanders control the standing army, the full time army members. They also teach them advanced skills, require them to wear uniform, and fight in even more complex formations. Usually the standing army is at the front lines. The standing army includes the basic melee weapon users and archers called Soldiers, the advanced swords and mace users called Swordsman, and the honorable elite and mounted groups called Knights. All Soldiers, Swordsmen and Knights are on equal terms when it comes to ranks, but they use a different variety of weapons. All commanders have the ability to lead forces into battle, train them, and when there is a shortage of forces, take control of the Guard Captains and the guards within the kingdom. All commanders will answer to the head commanding officer, the royal family, and collaborate with the political representative sitting on the council for the military. The political representative of the military can issue orders just like a head commanding officer, providing the actual head commanding officer or royal family does not override them. The political representative of the military sits on a small council of core divisions, keeps the core of the military up to date on political happenings, and when necessary, talks to the people to adress concerns in the military and does all the red tape business.
The second core of the kingdom is the township citizen ranks of the kingdom. This area is lead by and managed by the ArchDuke of Dustari. The ArchDuke is the highest honors someone can get in the nobility without becoming royalty, but this does not necessarily make him the next Prince of heir to the throne because of the electoral process. The ArchDuke tries to manage all the lands to see that economic effeciency and stability within the towns are at optimum performance, and the political representative of the township takes care of all the political problems, adresses problems that the people have with the council and the royal family and deals with all the red tape. Below the ArchDuke are several Dukes. While some Duke titles are inherited many go by political standing, as each Duke is granted an area of land, usually with a town, to govern and control and make sure everything in that region is running smoothly and effeciently. It's also his responsibility to talk to the army to arrange adaquete protection for those lands if necessary, and submit requests. Beneath the Dukes are the working citizens of the kingdom, but they are subdivided. Some workers may be Lords, managing small businesses of mercantile trade, while others are merchants and shopkeepers. These ranks are usually considered bourgeoisie, or middle class workers. Most are assigned on ability and skills the person has. Finally, below the bourgeousie are the basic workers of the kingdom. These include bakers, blacksmiths, farmers, and other ranks that do not necessarily reflect the skills and abilities of one person, but more so their interests and occupations. Lower class workers and bourgeousie cannot order each other around, only the Duke and ArchDuke can do such a thing, but usually lower class workers may work for the bourgeousie. Finally, while it's considered an independent body, the Church, lead by a Cardinal, will also be present. The ArchDuke cannot order the Cardinal around, but request that he fulfill duties he would like to see happen. The Priests and Monks in the church are on equal ground, and carry out the orders of the Cardinal. |
