I would be for this update if, it required less kills to get to 140, the kills you have already were implemented so if you had 20k kills already you'd log in with 140.. and most importantly.. if Era was still populated. How the hell are you supposed to kill when no one is on?

You need to change your train of thought.
Seems like most people think that just because they had 140 hp before they NEED to get back to 140 hp again as soon as possible.
Getting 140 hp isn't a short term goal anymore, and in fact you're better off not thinking about it as something that is necessary, and just thinking of it as a small bonus for doing what you're supposed to do. You're barely going to notice the difference from one hp point to the next, but as a long term goal it does make a difference, and so it needs to be thought of in that way.
In the time being if people aren't PKing then they aren't going to have extra health either, so what is the damage?
Deaths haven't changed at all with the health update so the people that are running now probably would have run before anyway. You're never going to kill somebody that doesn't want to be killed badly enough. Seriously, all it takes is for them to run diagonally away from you and unless you can somehow outrun them you're just going to end up wasting time and ammo, and you'll fall further behind with every shot you take.
Chris has said that he'll change it back if it's not successful. But I'd rather see the formula tweaked first. At the moment it's using the sum of square numbers starting at 5, which means the number of kills requires grows exponentially as you progress, but also means that in order to get 130 HP you'll probably only need half as many kills as it takes to get to 140 HP.
Alternatively it could be worth while to make deaths count towards your HP increase as well, even if each death was only 0.5 or 0.33 or so.
P.S. Quests really sucked and I always hated them. They were linear and uninteresting, and the NPCs have always been buggy.
