This isn't the best either, but its very easy to navigate due to it's restricted size.

Only thing is "members" is slightly confusing as to what that is.

I don't think laying out every single link in the open is the best way to go. There's just too many pages and links and it makes it look cluttered. They need to take every page and link and categorize it into simpler categories and place them in there.

Stephen said it best about being simple. Too much these days people want to fancy the hell out of their websites and all it does is clutter them with unnecessary junk. Too many links isn't good to have on every page. Either have them like they used to be with the drop box categories or have a side bar with expandable menus.

Or perhaps "Members Login" or "Members Section".

Just "Members" makes me wonder if it is like a members section or information, or whatever.

Clearly you've never taken interest in professional art. There's nothing wrong with insulting someone's work when you yourself aren't doing anything. How else will the artist know if his work is good, if even the people who can't paint say it's ugly.

Also, if we all think Hik's site is just as ugly as the current one, will that really be a step forward?

They're not going to update their webpage, especially if it's some half-assed webpage a player made. Would you want that anymore than I would, or am I the only one who wants Graal to be presented WELL to potential customers?

A little something I threw together quickly.

I've copied the styles and a couple of elements from the older websites so that I had a bit of material to work with. It's a bit of a mash-up, and would need improving if it were to be used (for instance, the logo would need reworking to fit the style of the page properly; I'm not happy with the top of this page yet), but it gives the general idea of what the first impression should be like.

It's relatively easy from then to link to Kingdoms, Zone and Playerworlds from the bar along the top or from a "Worlds" page. Note that I've linked only once to the subscription page though; this is quite important so that people can see all of the subscriptions at once instead of being mislead by going onto the wrong section of the site.

Does it really help to just say "That's ugly" instead of "Wow, too much contrast" or "Wow, hard to navigate"? I don't think so. No professional or any other kind of artist improves from hearing "You suck".

That's why I said be constructive.

On a lighter note, Skyld's page is looking as he said a little mashed-up and a little Mac-y but it's definitely Graal feeling, in a mashed-up Mac-y way, lol.

@Skyld: That looks very nice, like how you re-incorporated the Screenshots, I personally look at screenshots before I play a game, as it gives me more of a direct view on Gameplay, and the Graphical Display.

Saying that is probably a lot more insulting than "wow that's ugly". I really wish you're start trying to be productive yourself rather than trolling me for what I decided to do or not to - as you would say.

A professional gets trained, and pays for it. If they want to be professionals here they can pay too. That's not really my responsibility.

Skyld's page isn't so great either. It's still really busy - the earlier graal stuff was better because it was more simple. But Skyld's making a lot of bad choices with his page, especially not putting a different color below the text, or putting it in some containing box. It looks very weird free flowing.

Sklyd's original post with the left image, is pure awesemnity, if you could make that the f8 menu, and when you use the arrow keys to go left and right in between the worlds, it made a little classic "ding" would be great. Or you could go with a "Coverflow" feel that glides effortlessly across the screen..

They had a temp working with them. Could have been part of a work term for his education, not sure.

There would be a lot of programming needed to actually interface with the Graal database and such. I'm really not sure a revamp is worth the work just so it looks better - there's no reason to believe a large enough group of people will find interest in the site to warrant it.

I dunno, I've offered a few times to help with the GUI and stuff of the game. It's a area of interest for me, but they've either ignored or asked me to do some menial task which was entirely unrelated.

I know this is a horrid bump but I must say, Skyld's homepage is amazing and should be implemented as soon as possible. And his attachments on the first post should replace everything.

I think they should consider branding guidelines before they approach a new webpage all willy-nilly. The design of the webpage should be unified with the design of the login and server list screens on the computer & iPhone client.

I agree.

I just don't like the website or the login page anymore. I thought that the Graal website was cartoony in 2001, but the current one just puts it to shame. It's not that it's difficult to navigate or anything, I just prefer the old green stuff from way back when to what I see now.

By my first post I was merely stating that the bump was redundant since there have been no changes, agreeing with a topic that has been dead for so long is only useful if you have something constructive to add, or news to update it with.
So far, I have seen neither, just a free translation of: The site is bad, old one was better.

But, seeing as you people aren't as subtle and cannot read between the lines, I am just going to have to write it out.

Here is a Stylish style to bring back the old logo but I have no idea how to make the varying background color work right:

NPC Code:
@namespace url(http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml);

@-moz-document domain("forums.graalonline.com") {

body {
background-color: #198728 ! important ;
}

img[src="images/misc/vbulletin3_logo_white.gif"] {
background-image: url("http://forums.graalonline.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=47187");
width: 287px;
padding-top: 121px;
height: 0;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
margin-top: -5px;
margin-left: -10px;
}

#header_right_cell {
height: 116px;
width: 100%;
background-image: url("http://forums.graalonline.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=47188");
}

}

Edit: Attaching a couple images so I can link them, also attaching how it looks now.

Edit: Hooray, we can all pretend it is still 2001 now and we did not waste our teenage lifes posting about mining rock owner tags.

Here is a bonus style for reading this white-on-white text everybody thinks they are so clever for posting:

NPC Code:

@-moz-document domain(forums.graalonline.com) {
font[color="White"]:before {
color: gray;
content: "(invisible:) ";
font-size: 0.8em;
}
font[color="White"] {
color: gray ! important;
}
}

That is actually quite attractive; I like the boarder addition as it makes more sense in comparison to what it looked like. If anything, I think that this style should be added as an additional forum layout for people to use.
