No, it wasn't. If people do follow it then people using Hybrid and what not with the tree will quote too so that it's okay for the majority in linear default to see where the posts are coming from.

I did quote, however I didn't put the names in...I went back and put names in and will do that from now on, but I did at least put a quote, you did not

It is kinda hard to reply to a post that hasn't been posted yet, I mean how can I quote someone who hasn't posted? The majority of the forums use the linear view...

You guys are making a bigger deal of this then it has to be, just quote the person that you are replying to and it will make things easier...it isnt that hard.

Does it make a difference if, instead of going directly to the quick reply box at the bottom, you hit the quick reply link directly on the post you are replying to?

That isn't exactly what I meant...I always quote (I just wasn't putting the names in which I will from now on), but I meant as in not breaking the tree structure that some use.

If you do not specify a post, it will reply to the main topic instead of a particular post.

I just think that the bigger problem is the double-postedness of threaded posts veiwed in linear mode. Granted there is no simple solution to that. Actually it really wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't so easy for me to forget about threaded view...

No, it is not a rule, it is something that I wanted to discuss with members as it seems to be a problem.

The biggest problem is not the multiple posting, it is the not quoting who you are talking to in my opinion, and it is what I have seen many complaints on.

I request that people quote who they are speaking to so it isn't so confusing, is that so much to ask? I am also not ignoring input, that is the whole point of this thread, to discuss it.

You know what Loriel, I am trying to take care of something that people have been complaining about for awhile now, I dont think it would kill people to put a quote in their post. You fight me on every single thing I try to do on these forums.
