A problem on the forums to think about

There have been alot of complaints stemming from the different thread views that we now have the option of choosing.
Please keep in mind that the views will NOT be the same for you as it is for others using a different view.

The reason for this thread is to ask that the community of these forums please, when posting to a thread, please quote the person that you are speaking to unless it is just a general post.

This will help members using every view to be able to follow the thread much easier :)

Thanks alot ^^

Fixed.

It is not necessary for a person to make seperate posts to quote people, it is just fine to have multiple quotes in one post (as I am going to do in this post)...no need to have a long line of posts back to back just to quote different people...I said what I meant to say, my post does not need to be corrected.

Not really, that way it can still be confusing for hybrid and threaded users who are the majority.

I'd quote but it's pointless.. It's time consumin'

This isn't a chatroom, you have plenty of time to write decent posts.

I'd rather see a script to append proximal messages from one user when in normal view. That way the people using the tree-structure can follow the structure and the others don't see multiple posts. Of course, that's a bit much to ask.

You're missing the point, when you combine multiple quotes into one post (when the quotes are from different sub-topics) you break the tree structure. What Loriel posted makes more sense.

It is true that I dont know anything about the tree structure view, what I do know is that those who are using it, and even those who aren't NEED to quote who they are referring to in their post, if they are replying to a person...I think this is the bigger problem

Those of us not using the "tree structure" view are not required to post so that it does not break the tree structure when we are not using it

Scott 09-28-2004 11:59 PM

I dont think it is pointless when it seems to bother so many people on the forums

Dont make up quotes that a person didnt say, I did not post that...actually I see that you only took part of the post of what I said, which makes it look like I said something else which is VERY irritating

But, you do have a point, I will try to put the names of the people I am quoting within the quote

Scott 09-29-2004 12:17 AM

Haha, hypocrit.
