New Tileset Concept
Ok, this may take a while to type so bear with me, now I know I'm not the first person to think of this as I have seen people mention it in other posts.....
Anyways, of you people that have played RPG Maker you will know how the tileset it set out. So this is to show and tell people who haven't played it and to hopefully get this great idea inside Stefans head.
Ok, I have posted a picture of a RPG Maker tileset and I'll tell you how it's set out. It is divided into about thirds and the two thirds of it on the left hand side (that have a few tiles done but are mostly checkered) are like the terrain tiles. They represent like the grass, the water, lava, houses, roofs, the inside walls of houses and things like that. These tiles are either solid, or you can walk on them.
Then over to the right hand side where a majority of it is pink is where like the objects to fill up the levels are. What I'm trying to say is that the pinky colour is transparent, therfore you can place all those objects on the right hand side on top of the terrain tiles on the left handside. What this means is you can place floor tiles down inside a house and then go and place more tiles, like a table, on top of it. Kind of like multi-level tileing. And since the pink represents a transparancy you don't have to fill out the whole tile, because when the tile is placed on a terrain tile the terrain will cover up all the transparant parts. Its kind of like having webgifs for tiles.
This may be a bit confusing for some people, mainly those who haven't used RPG Maker, but it would greatly inhance the capability of making new tiles if implemented into Graal.
I repeat that I know people have already thought of this idea but I thought I would just make a thread about it.
I strongly believe Stefan should try and make this possible for Graal because it would mean tile making would be alot easier and it would mean not many webgifs (no lag) apart from if you needed a moving one or something.
Ok enough from me for now....
I believe some comments would be nice, or is some people feel I have left something out please reply...
P.S - I didn't make the tileset, I don't know who did but I give them credit for it. ^_^ |
