That's nonsense, if I walked into a 3rd grade classroom and asked who wanted to learn how to make a video game I don't think any of the "lovable kiddies" would say no.
But after they look how hard and frustrating it can be they'll quit on it, like I did with leveling even when I was 10 >.>
Only when I was 11 I started taking all that stuff seriously lol.
