I stated why it was weird in another thread where Sephiroth became emotionally dramatic.
Succint summary:
AP courses seem to not mean anything in Canada, according to Sephiroth, since teachers find no reason in students taking AP courses over there. Also, according to Sephiroth, college level courses are called Honor Courses of which you can only take as a senior.
Now, in the US, it's totally different. AP courses are "Advanced Placement" courses of which are college level courses. They can be taken during all four years of high school. Honors courses are simply just advanced courses, and can also be taken throughout all of High School.
While I find your education system to be weird, you'd probably feel the same about the US's education system, but after viewing the two, I'd rather be a part of the US education system.

Yes, though you're missing the triglyph, the cornice, the metope or the frieze, and the capital. And those things arn't called pillars either, but seeing as how you made the thing in this text box, I won't criticize you for it.
