The problem isn't the rules, it's that you can't seem to follow them. You whine and cry after someone has a problem with the way you're acting.
They wouldn't need something to strict if things never got out of hand.

Yes, this is only a forum, but it's also GraalOnline's official forum. The people that think graal would easily fail without them should really learn to look further then their own nose. The way you act now is what keeps a nicer population from Graal. The way you treat fellow players both in game and on the forum shows these new comers that this game isn't friendly at all.
They visit the forums for the first time and see a little kid swearing his head off and bashing another player. Yes these things can be deleted, but what if they weren't deleted in time. A new, mature, and friendly player could have seen that and decided the game wasn't for them. It's the way you act that is keeping GraalOnline down. This new system is so that the crap that should be deleted, never happens at all. This isn't limited to just players either, i've seen just as much from a few nameless globals as well.

Except not all forum users have that layout selected. I for one have Author on Top selected, and that would make it very crowded.

I can... for once... say that I don't mind.

I rarely get in a tangle with the mods or admins here, and it's not really THAT hard to follow the rules and still make decent posts... If you make an honest mistake and get punished for it, I'm sure if you contacted the person who punished you, you could reason with them politely. Not "OMG U #%)@#%$@# U DELETED MY POST AND GAVE ME A STRIKE CUZ I SPAMED ONE TIME!?!"

I might not like a lot of things about how these forums are run... but I like the fact that they don't allow people to insult other people or try and ruin them or embarass them or spit at them. I'd also prefer to see less spam and more posts that have a purpose and are more than 4 words long.

Pretty much 90% of my posts are lengthy and on-topic. I don't see what is so hard about it. Without some of these rules the forums would be not only chaotic but idiotic as well. All you'd see is threads about "so and so SUCKS!" and then a bunch of replies like "shut up!" "no u!" "lol" "spam!!!!" "ur stupid!"

It would be like AIM chats. If you've never had the pleasure of one, I recommend it. Then when you've sat in an AIM chat for about 10 minutes, log out and think about what it would be like if the forums were like that. Then be glad that we have rules here.

So sometimes (okay maybe more often than not) there are some overly strict mods/admins... But if you don't try to push them all the time then I don't see the problem. I do, however, think it would be better for mods to not delete posts but instead leave them there and punish the person publically so that other people know what not to do. Instead of deleting entire threads or tons of replies in a thread with the reason of "spam" or "don't post that" or "stay on topic" or anything stupid like that.

You don't like most things.

Why specificallly do you oppose this? It makes it easier for mods to deal with unruly users. If you are a sensible user, you have no reason to oppose this whatsoever.

I don't see anything wrong now. If anything the mod's are too lenient, why not remove the truble maker's instead of making something which is...pointless.

I think you should read the thread and see how this makes it easier for the moderators to deal with unruly users. Infractions actually mean something now.

Once again, I think it's pointless and that moderator's should just put their foot down.

  • Not all moderators (in fact, most moderators) cannot remove people from the forums.
  • A number of infraction points actually makes it possible for repeated moderator actions to result in forum bans.
Two reasons why this system is good for the moderation team.

Hey if the moderator's agree with it, so be it. I just find it pointless. I'm not a moderator, so I don't really have a say in it. Nor do the non-moderator's in this forum.

The thread isn't really a way for the forum users to have a say; it's so that users are aware of changes.

This is the reason, I believe, that this rule worries alot of the forum user base:

I personally have never received an infraction or a warning, and only have had only a small handful of posts deleted for any reason whatsoever. So frankly, all those other infraction possibilities give me no fear at all. However, this one rule here basically states: Sam and Moonie are infallible. If they dislike you or you discuss something that they decide makes them unhappy -- whether or not it is truly breaking any rule on the books at all, it will be suppressed and you will disappear without any questions asked and with no particular check or balance to go to. This is unreasonable in my opinion.

To the people who seem to not seem to understand the good points of this...
Currently regular mods cannot ban, they can only rely on the supermod or myself to do it for them. This makes it much easier to keep track of since after so many warnings (infractions), the system auto-bans.
We don't have to hunt through threads of warnings to see whether the person has been warned several times in order to temp ban, the system does it for us.
Nothing is really different then it was before except the system in which it is done, and hopefully rules will be enforced more.

So if someone want a place to make personal attacks or fight against other members it's by far better to find another forum or game.

LOL well if thats true then no woner your losing money with those smart and rash decisions.

So now you have [*counts*] 27 different mods with different interpretations of what spam is and what other rules technically are who can all directly control when someone gets banned?

Yeah, great idea. We had a problem with just the two super-mods.
