My point of view... I see Era PC as more of a Counter Strike game that got abandoned a third of the way through.

My suggestion? Either go back to basics or progress with the CS aspect.

Basics? 1 Gang Base. All health equal. A standard speed which isn't too fast (0.6) can be increased if you go to gym (0.7) and if you run for 20 minutes you get a months worth of speed boost. Hide deaths - they're not needed. Who gives a crap?
Have fun auctions, release rare guns that can only be obtained by auctions or killing in gang bases. If you kill 10000 players inside a base, you can get this gun which costs $30,000

The CS aspect would be fun- as suggested create parties. Then have those parties be able to set up events between other gangs (i.e. gang A challenges gang B to Capture The Flag) which isn't required by a gang admin. Same principle as above- kill 10000 players inside Capture The Flag and get this gun for $30, 000.

Either suggestion - add achievements. Even silly ones (When a girl kills 10 girls she will say "I'm prettier than you."). Add a pk scoreboard with a reward each day, even if the top 10% get 100g, it's better than nothing.
Look at the tenure - clearly people are not liking the current state.

Era has Eras.... Each year is a decade, after 140 years the country has gone to ****., but then the year from 140-150 was more like 140000000000-150000000000 years long, the world geography shifted into multiple islands and now its like a new generation flashy quick money type of game like 99% of games these days. They only last a few months before everyone acquires everything and its done and done with.

I believe it's time for management to start taking some risks and introduce completely new methods of game play. trying to improve era in it's current state is the epitome of beating a dead horse. era needs a major change if there's any hope left of sparking some life into the server. I don't understand why managers are so blind to this while they continue to try so hard to push content that nobody really cares that much about. is it the lack of approval from pwa's? there has to be some reason. let go of the past and start thinking outside of the box; keep an open mind about new things and go forward from there.

I really think era needs to adapt more of an arcade style of game play and cut out all of the bs that stands between a player logging on and jumping into the action. the only thing I have to my name on era is an mp40 with no ammo. I have no incentive to play because I don't feel like wasting my time with tedious methods of making money to afford ammo or new items. it's not 2005 anymore and the economy does nothing but weigh the server down. I'm sure people will disagree, but that's just my personal opinion.

gangs need to be completely re-imagined. personally I think the current gang system as a whole is way overdone. I wouldn't mind seeing a shift to a party based system (which is essentially just a small scale version of gangs with less people but more gangs) this could tie in with andy's idea to give parties the ability to set up a variety of events against each other to compete. this would be perfect because you could set up 3v3, 4v4, 5v5, etc. you don't have to have a large number of players online to participate, but you could make it a larger scale battle if the numbers are present during peak times. it would even be cool to have a random que where if at least 6 players que up, the system randomizes teams and puts them in an event. this way during off hours or for players who aren't in a party can still participate in some way. there is no way that wouldn't be fun. open world raids that require gangs to run around the gmap to conquer bases is a dead game mechanic that people don't seem to have interest in anymore.

set up a leader board that ranks all parties as a whole, then in each event category. have position round weekends where the first place party faces second place, third place and fourth place, etc. host a playoff series once a month where the top x teams battle for the ultimate championship title. you can't do these kind of things with three large gangs. there are plenty of possibilities to make it fun and exciting.

What would a loadout consist of?
More than one gun?
Would they be customizable?
How granular can they get?
If you have loadouts that consist of two guns, and your favorite gun is part of one loadout but you don't like the other gun that comes with it, are you just out of luck?

What problem do loadouts solve versus just single guns?

All guns deleted, select a load-out, customizable loadouts etc with more gang points/kills

its all been talked about before, I mentioned this months ago but my idea on rising the economy just wasn't executed how it was supposed to be, in return its lead to what we have now, boring gameplay.

This is why I don't bother to give ideas away, they're used but executed poorly.

Godzilla no disrespect but era has never used any of your ideas. Step off this high horse of yours and face reality. Most of your ideas are biased and not fully thought out. Fully think out your ideas before you dish them out. I personally think that idea would kill era, your taking out 80% of the players ability to use what they want. This wouldn't help era nor solve any of eras current issues.

The adage, "If you want it done right, do it yourself," applies here.

If you don't like how someone else implements your ideas, you should learn the dev skills necessary to implement them yourself.

Reset the reset!

And I 100% can confirm we don't have kill logs from the beginning of Era (or time). Honestly I think the best you can do is 6 months.

I have agreed with some of these ideas before and suggested we do them, even told Rogue (who had a similar idea) that we should move forward with it.
I see no problem with some quicker fixes to make things fun:
1) Remove deaths - Not necessary anyways
2) We have a system we've been creating that just got finished that allows Gang A to challenge Gang B to fight, just need to fine-tune it, test it, and release it properly.
3) We have achievements, albeit they seem useless, but the system is there and we can change it to suit our needs.

Long Run:
1) Create this "load-out" system, where people can chose a class, which will come pre-loaded with specific items.
2) Revamp the current PKing system, no more all "Attack and defend" bases, but add simple games that people can play on their own, no ET/ETA needed for them.
3) Still have ETA/ET's for other games that can be hosted, ones that either simply can't be automated, or just aren't worth automating.

I'll write up an outline, and I think it's just about time that we get away from the basics, stop trying to fix things that clearly won't work, and go in a totally new direction.

I would love to. It seems anytime we remove money, there's more to be had. Those that have that much in the bank are reluctant to spend any/most of it because they love this "I have more than you" swagger.

Any ideas you have on ways to sink massive money out of the economy, please feel free to PM me in game, here, or post it on the forums, I'm always open to suggestions. No, more auctions is not an idea I'll take, as we can always do more but it won't ever remove enough.

People can have whatever they want in their banks. If they earn it then what's the problem? I bet if you had 15 million in the bank you wouldn't of made this post.

Removing money from the economy does what exactly? What does it achieve? It doesn't matter if you 2 billion in the economy. People already have all the top tier weapons/items. That boat has long sailed. What is the "right" economy for era? Nobody knows. Should it be less or more? What is the right balance?

No point trying to sink money when you know without removing the problem of money being pumped into the server resolved first. And it's simple, it's gang points. $150 a gang point + whatever it is you're getting for a kill. I'd say $250 for every kill. There is your big problem.

Sinking loads of money is a temp fix not a perm fix and you need to ask yourself is it really fixing anything?

Sink loads of money.. Less money for people to get when trading items. Cuts down on the trading market. You guys will struggle to sell things for high prices at auction/newly released shops. It kinda makes the server boring, less flipping everything takes a cutt. Remove the money you get from gang points and you upset and give people an even bigger reason not to raid not that they even raid nowadays anyways.

I honestly wouldn't worry about fixing the economy anymore. Focus on entertaining the players, give them a reason to keep logging in not worry about who has enough money.

That's kind of where I've been for months now, hence why I boosted all ways players can make money. I see no harm at this point, just want to make the game playable and fun for all.

I agree that we need to make some changes, however I'm uncertain of what you mean by "dead"? We seem to constantly have 60+ players online, upwards of 80+ during peak times. That's fantastic when you take a look at every other PC server, as well as think about what it was before I took manager over back in October (20-30 average, 40+ peak times). Your definition of "dead" seems a bit extreme.

Dead as in, dead. We do not have have 60 players. We have around 45 players when you - the staff + their RC's. RC's also count towards playercount. Also - the AFKers and - the people who leave their clients on 24/7.

When you go to the spar complex and it's empty. When you try to raid, but yet nobody there? When you join events and only 6-7 people are joining.

That my friend, is my definition of dead.

It's been completely free for over a year now, please stop saying this. It wasn't even pay2play before that; ever since they added gelats the individual servers just coded around the restrictions (since observer mode was the only global restriction).

At most, someone had paid 25 for a VIP/Classic like 9 years ago. Your Graal# doesn't even support this being a possibility.

The game isn't run by any of these [Era] people, you realize there's 5-100 other servers active at any given time. I remember making Alfonso gamble me 300 gelats so I could play some random pokemon development server. At the very least you paid for Graal, Era never saw any of it.

I've got 2 classics that i paid for that 2 players currently use. Call it account sharing if you will, had bell approve them. Give them away when i quit in 04 to people i know irl. Came back when snow friend irl got me to come back. I been here from the start. Longer than you.

So yes. I paid to play.
