Getting Any Better?

I personally think that i've been getting alot better at shading as days go by. I've been trying out a few different techniques and seemed to have gotten better at choosing my colours . Here are a few of my recent graphics, what do you think?

Its a jackhammer, like construction workers use for tearing up cement roads...I made it for a server to use for mining...it pictured as being a pogo stick at the same time so players can ride it around. :P

Btw Elk...hearing that from you means alot considering you are one of my graphical idols.

You need to learn about sprites. Otherwise, looks nice for a starter

I know how to do sprites...I just did all the sprites like that to show what it was supposed to look like...I could reduce the sprites to a quarter size of that sheet.

Suggestion for the guitine, though?
Even without seeing it animated I can tell it won't look right. When it falls, it won't look like it's falling...instead like its just being moved.

It's moving at a constant speed instead of accelerating.
distance between frame 1 and 2 will be less than distance between frame 2 and 3 etc

Know what I mean? Otherwise I could animate it myself to show you

Mh...the colors are a little bit too dark on the guillotine and the wooden bed. Or maybe the white background is to bright. I like them.
