Question Delete all gifs from Graal?????

As all the player world owners I am sure you recieved this:

While playing on other servers, I've noticed that most of them are still using gifs instead of png and mng images, I'm giving the server owners until the end of October to change this, because I will be deleting most of the un-needed gifs on this date (heads, swords, and shields mainly). I've also noticed, by playing on each server that most Player Worlds are still using the old baddies (from Zelda 3). This is something that also needs to be changed, if you don't change this in future, your server may be at risk of being shut down until you do. I'll also be posting this same message at the Graal Online news, and be checking each Player World once a week. Thank you for your time.

Whats with this? if you convert the animated gifs they will not work at all , so are to lose all animation from Graal? All heads and swords and such just where does this improve the Game?Seems to me it will degrade the game not improve it if you take out all the enhancements of the animated gifs online what do you have?Pictures just plain ole pictures where does this enhance the game?And what is mng format for I hve never heard of it much less been able to find such a format?Not in any of my editors and I do not have a cheap editor .I would just like someone to explain to me why 1000's of gifs are having to be removed for it has yet to be explained to us only that it has to.

Honds from the Classic LAT is about to release a few of his programs. a gif to PNG assimilator. It will be helpful.

He's also about to release Graal Guild Manager version 3, which will make it even easier to manage guilds for playerworlds.

As well as the Graal Script Editor, which should explain itself. =)

Yes the assimilator program should be released before
playerworld owners can really start to convert stuff,
its too much work to change commands from gif to png/mng.
I think this mainly means when you use npcs that
have gifs as heads or swords or shields then you
will need to use the png/mng version of it, all
those images are already converted so there shouldn't
be a problem (ok ok on one of the computers the
shields and swords are not comverted yet )
But other stuff don't need to be replaced immediatelly
but might be considered for the future.

I will also need to change the Graal.exe and main
Graal packages to use png/mng

Don't know what is meant with the baddies
though, there are not z3 baddies in the game

AFAIK PSP only supports true-color mngs ...

or would be good if there was a program to replace .gif with .png in all NPC images and scripts in a level.

I think that is dumb if all we can use is pngs...

because I have noticed in some small images that gifs are accaully smaller then pngs...

but otherwise I use pngs....

Normally PNGs are always smaller,
only animated gifs can be smaller
than mngs because my gif2mng program
and Graal don't undertstand the possible
mng optimizations yet

get irfan view it can covert a lot of images into 8bit and such but not sure if has mng, i know it has png

will graal ever allow jpg?

So you're telling us we have to go on our playerworlds, get all the .gif files and change them to .png or .mng? That's horrible!

I dont think Kawii shoudl be able to dictate what GFX exstensions Can and Cannot be on a playerworld. I think here powers shoul dextend only to the realms of Classic and/or G2k1. not any more than that.

If I understood honds correctly, the Assimilator will change all the scripts in your levels to the correct gfx extention (.png and .mng)

Mithica has been using PNGs for some time now. Mainly because the (bad word) image proggy I use is a piece of (bad word) (bad word) that dosen't (bad word)ing let me make GIFs. And get off Kawaiisaria, she knows what she's doing.

hmm

well, just about all .gif extensions work in graal, because of the way its formatted i guess, but you need certain types of .PNGs (as previously stated). I think getting rid of all the .gif s would be horrible...so in other words...most PWs will be down for atleast a week.
2ndly....how the heck does one go about using the GiftoMng program?? I cant get it to work, all it does is bring up a dos window, type some crap really fast, and close before i can even tell what a single letter is in the freaking thing!

well...

im proud to say that i got the prg to work...unhappy to say that it f*wked up all of my colors in the images....which really suck! GIF are way better! More colors, more fun! I dont want to have to redesign all of my images in 8 color format....simply because they will look like crap!

Stefan, you should make graal have a better Support for PNGs, not just the ones that it uses now.

EXCUSE ME? PNGS HAVE 256-16 million(you cant use 16 million in Graal though) COLORS?

I don't see whats so wrong with this, converting gifs to pngs (or mngs) really isnt that hard, and with the assimilator thing it will be even easier, the only real problem is lack of transparency options for .png files.

Wow, this is sooo uber, considering the whole fact that graal will NOT display pngs when I use them for npcs, and i can't see pngs when I change my shield/sword/head to png instead of gif. Only one that does work is for bodies

hmm

well, graalclassic hasnt been accepting .gif for quite some time, yet the bow script that you start off with in graal uses a .gif.

If you have ever pushed f6 to debug something, and goto bow, it says "setani shoot,wbow1.gif;"

This is in the newest version mind you!

my pngs wont work in graal anymore, this sucks, why do they want all images to be pngs? is this a small step toward making all of graal p2p? whats next, only .nw levels?????
