...I'd say it is very hard to formulate an opinion on Graal startscreens because there has never been a good one before. But if you consider RPG start screens in general, think about some of the greats of the past and their start screen. Obviously Final Fantasy comes to mind and most games by Squeenix.
They usually feature a character or symbol of importance whether indicated or not in the main storyline.
They usually feature fitting music that compliments the starting screen.
The selection is different depending on the mood of the project. Sometimes it is a quick, simple choice between 2 options. Sometimes it's a more animated set of buttons and transitions, including fading between the separate screens.
Having seen the titlescreen for Crystia, I'd say you're on the right track. But be mindful of how you create any kind of interface and make sure that it fits the feel that we have all witnessed and will be expecting.
