This is something I've been working on. There are five flags, each one representing a kingdom. When you start the event, you get assigned to one of the five kingdoms (it can be random, of your choice, or based on kingdom membership, depending on how options are set). Then you spawn somewhere around your kingdom's flag in a dungeon (right now there's only one dungeon, but more can be made since they're easy to create, also, maybe players can make their own dungeons and submit them). When you grab another kingdom's flag, it changes to the flag of your kingdom. The first kingdom to make all five flags theirs wins. Like in that other game on that other server or something.
You fight each other in the dungeon by grabbing items to fight with. There's stuff like swords, heavy rods, and also lightning and bullet walls that you can pick up and carry. Once you throw them they start doing their thing for 30 seconds or so and then they disappear. Once you pick up a weapon, it's automatically equipped, and you can't store weapons. If you pick up a new weapon, you have to find the one you had before lying around somewhere to be able to use it again. Of course, you can't use your own weapons.
Since this is intended to attract new players, your stats are meaningless in the dungeon, everybody is set to a certain speed (but there's a potion you can grab to get a temporary speed boost). Also, the HP system isn't used. Instead, everybody has a certain number of "hits" and once they're hit that many times with something, they die and have to wait a while before they can re-enter.
Some other things:
Options will include:
Choosing the map, choosing which weapons are allowed, which teams are enabled/disabled (because there's not always enough people for five teams), and how teams are assigned.
Other features:
- High score list that keeps track of who's the best at killing people with what.
- Short-term individual win/loss records that keep track of how many times a person's team has won, so that by playing multiple times a single winner ultimately emerges (this is how CS events were held on 2K1).
- The commands to set options and start the game can be invoked by normal players by having 50 percent of the players say the command when there's no EM around (events on 2K1 were like this).
So yeah, I'll talk to Bjorn sometime soon about getting debug access so I can put in the scripts.
Map and screenshots attached. Flag GFX probably not final.
