Thought it relevant since the
Crypt drop discussion has digressed and highlighted issues of the Kingdom dungeons and Boats & Ferries.
Alright, basically the general consensus on ferries is that they're too slow and are almost completely redundant since a player can run through the dungeons and get to their kingdom island, or back to main, quicker than the ferry can. And with less complications (accidently unstick / not enough plat / just miss the ferry). And while there is the option to build your own boat, it's not that much faster, especially since few carry 50 boards with them at all times.
I propose there be several more boat designs which include the current boat(boat A), a smaller and faster boat(boat B), an even smaller rowing boat (Boat C), and a large battleship(Boat D). Boat A would stay the same.
Boat B would have no cannons and fall in hp faster than Boat A, both naturally and from cannonballs. There would also be only a very small cargo room. Being smaller it would be faster and more nimble, able to go through smaller gaps. It would cost less boards to make (~30).
Boat C would require very few boards to make (~15). It would be very small and have no cannons or cargo hold. Low phys and str players won't be able to utilize it as greatly as the stronger, and would prove slower than boats A and B in that case. An unrealistic yet interesting feature could be the option to 'pack up' the boat and place it in your inventory, essentially making it a personal ship. It would weigh a little over the 15 boards it costs to make and not be placeable in a container. It would not be possible to cast/fight from this ship as it is too small and fragile. It's hp would go down faster than boat B both naturally and from cannonballs. It's hp would stay the same as it was when picked up and be repairable from anywhere by clicking on the unique 'Repair boat' icon which the cargo hold button would normally be.
Boat D would be a larger version of Boat A, slower but with more cannonballs, more resilient, more costly to build. The pinnacle of naval warfare.
These expansions to the current boat system would keep boats relevant to island-to-island travel and in some cases, crucial. I think it for the best that Kingdom dungeons are kept as just dungeons and not links to the main-land and back. It makes little sense to me how travelling down 2 flights of stairs puts you under the sea...
There'd be another stage to this expansion, and that involves scrolls teaching one of how to build ships A, C and D, making B the normal boat that should be taught to noobs on start-island. These would be mental based (crafting) and also need a revision and reset of the mental skill which has been long overdue.
