how can i make graal run better on my computer?
in both graal online and my offline world it lags, my world on my friends computer works just fine... lags a little if there's a lot of npcs in one place... but it's not that bad, but on mine i can't have more then 10 npcs in one level without lag. so does anyone know how i can make it run better? if there's anything i can download to make it run better? or can someone tell my why it's so slow on my computer? |
Your computer may contain virsuses or trojains if you do not have an anti-virus and firewall protector.
I recommend using Windows Firewall (if you use a Windows OS) and AVG 8.0 as your anti-virus. Then scan your computer for viruses. Also, you might want to get rid of all the adware and spyware by using Spybot - Search & Destroy. After you've done all of this, restart your computer, start up Graal and see if you notice any improvements. If not, you may have limited space left, or your computer hardware is probably outdated as in being old hardware. What you could do though, is set the priority for Graal higher. Ctrl+Alt+Delete, Processes Tab, and locate Graal.exe, Right-click and Set Priority on High. You can try the others AboveNormal or Realtime but I recommend High. Other than that, I can't think of any other way to help. :( |

Of course, always a good computer and internet connection helps you to play graal with a good performance.
Commonly, computers which are normally too slow for vista, are sold with vista in shops nowadays. If your operating system is very slow, too, think about switching to XP. |
Ya... post your specs. Also, you might want to try running Graal in OpenGL mode.
Go to start > run and then click browse. Find your Graal folder and then double click on graal.exe From there, just tack on -opengl at the end of it so it will most likely end up looking like this: "C:\Program Files\Graal\Graal.exe" -opengl And just click OK. See if that is an improvement. For note, I don't have a very fast computer(some old 1GHz, and a ****ty onboard graphics card) and I run Graal fine. |
i have spybot search and destroy and Ad-Aware for anti virus and they don't find anything.
i checked my firewall and it's off... so i turned it back on. sorry i don't know much about computers how do i see what my computer's specs are? i have windows XP, and i'll try that openGL thing and see if that works. |

go to start > run
type in: dxdiag click OK. The first thing that comes up should show all your specs, simply take a screenshot of that(alt+printscreen) and save it as PNG. Upload it here via attachment. Then at the top of the dxdiag window, go to the 'display' tab and take a picture of that too. |
well i tried that -opengl thing that sped it up a little but not much.
i was actually thinking it was my graphics card, but just wanted to make sure before i buy a new one. how do i add a attachment? |
Go to 'post reply' and it'll take you to full reply mode, then scroll down a little and you will see a way to manage attachments.

2 Attachment(s)
k thx i think i attached them.
and i tried the setting priority thing a while ago... it doesn't change it much, and makes it take forever to do open anything |
That's way more than is needed to run Graal fullspeed. Try reinstalling Graal?
|
no that didn't speed it up any, and it made most of the images and animations stop working in the editor, so i had to replace it with a backup copy of the graal editor.
is there any way of telling how good my graphics card is, i think that may be some of the problem. |

my new customized PC doesn't run graal any better than my old crappy dell. |
Update your graphics drivers. Go to the webpage of your graphics card (intel) and find your make and model using the info you posted above.
