Disable Playerlist option
A very neat and usefull (for me atleast), would be the ability to disable the playerlist by either a script of serveroptions. This is atleast a very vital thing for Mythic Legends, and when I scanned the forums I noticed that some have wanted an option like this.

i think its an enable feature im not sure =\ |
No, right now - you cant do it at all.
|
ehm let it be
|
I would like this improvment.
|
I have seen this done before though I'm not sure but it's a script I know that.
|
In graal3 you could do it because it was scripted playerlist. Graal4 you can't kthx.
|
Stefan, would it be possible for you to add such a feature?
|
Login server has it.. so it is excist.. if he just told us the command

Come on Stefa, atleast give me a reply? It would be nice to be able to disable the playerlist on a server -.- |
Yeah...I know he reads all these, but a "Yes" or "No" response would be appreciated.
Unfortunately, if you push someone grumpy to respond, they generally respond "No" just out of spite, so I guess we'll have to keep waiting, working around the development delay to the best of our collective abilities...(what really riles me is when I figure he's never gonna say Yes, I build a complex workaround that barely functions and lags like crazy, then just as I release it he says "Oh, yeah, good idea, that'll be in the next version releasing sometime this week." Then the release date gets delayed once I scrap the scripted version... But sadly, Graal's still the best and cheapest development environment I've found.) |
Well it's normal that features get more attention once they are needed for the the gold servers (like serverside sql has been added for the login server, not available to playerworlds yet). Since the scripted Rc is released now it will be interesting to also let Windows users use the scripted playerlist if they want.
I don't like the idea of disabling the playerlist totally though, it's an important part of Graal. |

But we should at least be able to disable player list features...
I am not to keen on the fact that anyone can look at the level that any player is in... Maybe make it so you can "disable the player list" which in turn will turn off all the features EXCEPT you would still be able to pm staff and rcs? |

I do think it would be nice to disable some of the profile options though. I dunno... in the end you could always script your own playerlist and message system... I think Stefan is just worried that people will just disable the playerlist and not do anything about a replacement. I honestly don't see "phone systems" working anyway. Who really wants to have to find a payphone and pay money to call someone and have to dial the number and wait for them to answer (either their cell or just get an answering machine from their house or something)... People will miss the ease of using a playerlist and private messaging. Phones and other messaging systems inside the game are just novelties in my opinion. The only useful scripted feature I could think of is a mail system. Then you could send mail to people who are offline and they could do the same for you. :) |
Maybe there should be a choice for requesting it to be disabled if you have a good alternative?

I say scripted playerlist. Then you can disable as much of it as you like. Particularly profiles, for servers on which it can be devastating to Just Know Where Someone Is.
But I'd also advise people keep the list as at least a List, even if you can't PM everyone you can know is on the server - you can know Tyhm is online, but unless you have his "phone number" you can only leave him messages...or something. (really I can't think of too many situations where being able to contact anyone on the list is a Bad idea...) |
