The Greatest Idea Ever

Open source Graal. Comments? Yeah, we should all start a protest and force Stefan to release the Delphi source code! O.o

CheeToS2 02-01-2006 08:03 AM

Stefan makes a living with Graal. Not going to happen.

Raeiphon 02-01-2006 01:30 PM

It's fine the way it is.

Interpereting an interpereter from an interpereter would be a fun thing. Days of glorious outlining before you'd figure out what did what.

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard in my entire life. You try running a business like this one, and release your source code, watch how quickly it will die. ;)

I'd rather have Open-Source NPC-Server so I can improve upon Aeon.

Darklux 02-01-2006 03:30 PM

Yeah but I think there should be the possibility to put GFX SCRIPT LEVELS and so on under a open source licence, like publishing GPL Scripts.

Or completely destroy it ;)

Releasing the source would be bad for him, not us. There's only one thing I want to do, and that's make having your own servers free. God, that would rule. Servers cost enough already. Maybe I should design a new Graal. Call it Laarg! Hehehehehe.

I don't make games to make a living; that's what working at Nintendo's for. For the online community, all of my games are freeware. Graal keeps getting limited with offline mode. First there were no limitations, then the NPC Server left offline behind, and now GS2 totally demolishes it. All my fun is gone :(.

Stefan seems to be very single-minded: make money. He thinks not of the happiness of gamers, which is why they game, to be happy. And personally, I prefer not to pay for happiness. I have to for almost everything else, and this is one thing that isn't necessary.

I'd probably be coding Laarg right now if I could figure out how to make graphics in C++ -_-.

Open-source rules. However, I'm not going to say that you'll miss me when I'm off being the best Game Maker. Too many american-idol-wannabes say that. Bah, whatever, love Graal, hate taxes. Who doesn't?

Stefan did say something to me, many years ago, about possibly getting corporate sponsorship and then having servers possibly be free. About six years have past ... and Graal/Cyberjourers seems to be its own corporation, and no free playerworlds - unless you get hosted or classic?

Graal was still free six years ago...

I'm too brilliant for something like that to happen.

I don't see why the NPC-Server can't be Open-Source since you need Graal to use it anyways. I'd like someone to point out why couldn't it work, since I just know someone will say so.

Because, err, Stefan doesn't want you making plastic aeroplanes! ^_^

And who would 'this guy' be?

Bl0nkt 02-05-2006 06:56 AM

Idrox0

Shouldn't take much consideration.

OasaTor_PK 02-07-2006 03:06 AM

This is like saying to make any successful MMORPG open source.

Its a no, and will always stay no.

Admins 02-09-2006 02:57 PM

Yes everything said :D
