Note:
A recent e-mail going around claims to give you access to Graal3D. This is not true. The information inside is not true and it contains a virus, please note that the release date is also wrong, it should be (hopefully) sooner than the date it quotes:

Added by MagicalTux: After some investigations, it seems that the attached file has the signature of a known virus named Dropper. It's packed with PKLITE. It's a trojan horse. If you opened it and don't have an antivirus software, you can run the Panda antivirus Online ActiveScan.

My Comments:
Looking very good! Apparently it can be played windowed and not fullscreen, which is good as I prefer windows unless I really want to play this and do nothing else at the same time. Its a great development from this:

HoudiniMan 05-12-2004 08:45 AM

Oh My God.
Yes!

The characters' eyes have like 58 glares in them... Little to anime-esque for me, but other than that... Awesome!

Galdor 05-12-2004 11:30 AM

OMFG! thats awesome!

Brad 05-12-2004 12:52 PM

cant find where us vips download it.

Spark910 05-12-2004 01:24 PM

its not out yet, the quote in my post is from an e-mail of someone saying you can download it, which you can not. Its just a hoax email with a virus in it.

WanDaMan 05-12-2004 01:59 PM

Looks great O.O

protagonist 05-12-2004 02:29 PM

Looks very nice. I hope my video card can handle it. :p

Questa 05-12-2004 02:36 PM

Wow, that looks alright.

Malinko 05-12-2004 03:09 PM

Looks cool...though I don't think Graal 3D will be the same Graal actually. But hey, I guess we have to try it. I can't wait for v3 of Graal, I heard you can actually make better PWs and more ideas to make them all different =P.

Spark910 05-12-2004 03:15 PM

Ah well, something different from what it is now is good. It will keep the current players happy and bring along some new ones probably :D

Moonite 05-12-2004 03:30 PM

This is ****ing Ugly!!!!
I dont even see my hand if I wear a weapen....
this games is worser then the first n64 games...

Myomoto 05-12-2004 03:52 PM

awesome, how will swords work? :O

GTXOO 05-12-2004 04:20 PM

Are they suppose to look like hobbits?
I hope there are different hair styles..
The castle tiles need help, though, I like it.
Good work.

Crono 05-12-2004 04:21 PM

Looks good except I hope you can view from different angles and not just first person. =/

Um, aim = first person x_x

I'd be suprised if you can't affect camera pos+ang through script anyways, besides allowing PWs to use diff char models...

*buys new computer asap* odam, I must be playing this when it comes out

Crono 05-12-2004 04:31 PM

It doesn't look that demanding :/

VeX_RaT_Boy 05-12-2004 05:55 PM

Wow... It looks VERY cool! And the heads/bodies are graal-ish :D

jake13jake 05-12-2004 06:37 PM

I don't like the body meshes or skins whatsoever. They're a complete turn off to me, sorry.

I do like the angled lower part of the barn houses, it keeps it from looking too realistic and from making the visual perspective seem non-enticing.

First person perspective is good, although the ability to change perspective would be good too. There would be good reasons to keep it one perspective. If there are going to be other servers using Graal3D, then the camera should be rescriptable.

One last thing. The terrain tiles seem a bit flat, and the terrain also seems a bit flat.... even with the flowers.... especially the closer terrain.

WanDaMan 05-12-2004 06:59 PM

it looks better than what it was before.., right?

Admins 05-12-2004 07:28 PM

On the picture with the casle you see it from third person view. You can switch between the two modes, fighting with axe/sword is actually easier in third-person view. We have not got time to fill the map with decoration yet (stones etc.), but we have prepared several stuff like fractal forests. It works quite fast on older computers, we develope it on 750Mhz/Geforce2, only the 3d modelling (the character, houses) is done on faster computer :)

Kaimetsu 05-12-2004 07:40 PM

Haha, cool. I'm looking forward to playing with the scripting ^_^

Thak2 05-12-2004 08:05 PM

I hope some classic graal things are transfered over.

Like, the newbie head, bush hiding, and bomb tossing. :)

Myomoto 05-12-2004 08:08 PM

Please keep all the neat stuff such as ships, house building and farming etc in the 3D mode! :O

Dach 05-12-2004 08:31 PM

I'm still going to want me new computer, I dont trust this one a bit, not to mention, I hate waiting for it when I accidentally make some bad code, or try to run something thats hardware intensive :\
Either way, I still want to script in 3 dimensions without pretending that parts of the game are 3d when they're not (i.e. jumping over rocks/fences, stuff like that) not to mention I want to play with camera and targeting scripting ^^ funfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunfunflu

Myomoto 05-12-2004 08:42 PM

By the way, why is flowers growing on the road o.O

Monkeyboy_McGee 05-12-2004 08:58 PM

Looks awesome!
I have to wonder though...how will speaking work? It'd look really funny if the same classic writing that graal uses (tempus sans itc i think? thats what i use anyway) appeared over those huge 3d bodies, lololol.

SSJ2_Gogeta 05-12-2004 10:53 PM

Graal 3d looks awesome, first time in a while I actually really want to upgrade my account to play and just not for forums.
Question: When 3d comes out, what will happen to the current 2d version of graal ?

It will slowly die off like Graal2001 did.

Doubt it... from the views here people will still play GK. And unlike last time there are actual full time employeed people at the office working on Graal3D, so the people working on GK can still do so.

Most people working on 2k2 were not from 2k1 if I remember correctly, some were I know but they had 4000 other jobs so its not like 1 more would hurt them.

WanDaMan 05-12-2004 11:26 PM

ugh, damix he means irl :o

Damix2 05-12-2004 11:34 PM

I'm saying that it wasn't that there was a lack of development of 2k1 that led to kingdoms getting all the players (there was but not because of lack of staff but lack of players) but because of the superior gameplay of 2k2. Now I expect that since Graal 3d looks to be superior that most players will migrate there.

Admins 05-13-2004 12:02 AM

Graal3D will not replace Graal Kingdoms, it has different goals. On Graal Kingdoms you can level up, build your own house and garden, organize kingdoms and kill monsters in dungeons. So it's more long term. We will try to introduce such things in Graal3D too, but at the beginning it will be more simple and more short term. Many things that we develope for the 3D version also helps in making Graal Kingdoms more interesting: we are working on a new mudlib for easier configuration of spells and introducing new things, as well as making the item system more secure and stable. This goes together with new scripting language and possibly new 3D features (like 3d objects or monsters).

Chaos0838 05-13-2004 12:13 AM

it looks so good, i cant wait for it to be released.

DragonX 05-13-2004 12:32 AM

The last screenshot posted has someone on a ledge. Does that mean you can jump in Graal3D??

... probably.

Admins 05-13-2004 12:35 AM

Yes of course :-) May be we should hurry to release it, it gets annoying to describe things which are much more easier to see by playing it :)
