Graal v3.03 released
Graal v3.03 has been released! Install the window version with the setup.exe and select the 'v3 Preview' package. On linux just download the graalinstall.sh program again and run it (some problems with the installer fixed). The Mac version will follow in 1-2 days.
About the versioning: v3 is the new Graal engine, completely in C++ and platform independent (Linux, Mac, Windows). For Windows user is it not adding a lot of new things, but it is much faster. Based on v3 we are working on a new scripting engine and on 3D functionality, we will post more info when we have something nice to show. We will add things like the level editor to v3 using the new scripting engine. About the new version Beside several major bug fixes this release also includes the new additions from Graal v2.21. Here a list of all important features/bug fixes: - faster network code, less traffic & lag - tiles are updated when downloaded - the playerlist is sorted, most recent pm at the top - the playerlist is only half-transparent now, so you see the player names easier - scripts can directly trigger clientside weapons - ganis work on the stats layer, animations shown with showani are animated - resizing of the window works better - the weapon list displays weapons and folders correctly, a memory leak with displaying weapon folders has been fixed - added a transparency check for gifs, the algorithm tries to fix the transparency of the image when the transparent index was set to the wrong palette entry (wrong index but same color); this works for most cases, for fixing pngs use the updated gif2mng - fixed warping problems - problems with freezeplayer fixed, it's actually working now so that you can play servers like Graal2001 Buf fixes in v3.03 rev1: - when you relogin to a server then you don't see the other player twice - fixed the problem with empty lines on the playerlist - the history of the chat edit field doesn't remember empty lines anymore - images displayed by serverside npcs on gmaps are displayed now (showimgs) - script functions screenx and screeny are working now |
Sweet :)

Stefan, Please add a Remember Password feature :(
And would you like to have some better themes for windows made than clones of Windows and Aqua? I think a Graal Theme would look better anyway :D Edit: Also, for PM's the bright green text on white background is almost unreadable :( My poor eyes! :) Edit: Opps, thats only using the "Windows Theme" but still should be considered :) The "Default" theme works best right now. |
Nice suggestions, but please use the edit button man.
|
Runs well. Thanks.
|
Grabbing it now. :)
|
Lot of features missing from it... Some other things i just plain don't like. I won't be using it until 2.x is no longer supported I'd wager.
|
MNGs are still broken :(
|
Same, 2.x is the best..
v3.x is below par, it looks like you've just tried to make it more modern rather than going for easy to use, everything is hard to read and the player list is too small |

It's nice!!! Very good!
But there is still some missing stuff: -Staff/Friends/Guild/Normal listing in the playerlist. -Profile/history/ignore in the playerlist. -MASS MESSAGE! (This is needed!) |

I hope Stefan doesn't make it so that you HAVE to have v3 to play graal. I like to keep things old and simple, as long as there are almost no bugs and the client works good I dont care. v3 is just different..it's just not the same Graal. It really looks like "they're" trying to make graal look like any other mmorpg..specialy -insert name of a game that is from korea and repetitive (boring sometimes)- |
There was v3.02 for mac with some bug fixes, that's why the new version is called v3.03.
We are still working on the new client which has a new (compatible) scripting engine and 3D functionality. We will not replace v2 until the new version has level editor and such things, and works good for all players. Right now v3.03 has less bugs than v2 (see weapon folders, showani on stats layer etc.), is much faster than v2 and most of the time more compatible with sound cards and gfx cards. About the themes: may be the windows-theme should be disabled because most things are made for the standard theme. In the new client we are working on (v3.1/3D) there is a new standard theme, and playerworlds can modify or replace gui profiles by script. About transparency: like i have written in the feature list, I have added a transparency check into the gif loading and into the gif2mng tool so that the transparency is fixed most of the time. The problem is that the images are bugged, normally the one who has drawn the image and has set the transparency wrong should fix it, but it seems most gfx staff dont care about that so I made it a little bit easier. The global gfx team should probably check if the servers use bugged gfx. |

If so I hope you mean "all players" as in the majority (like, 75% of the players not >50%) |
The version 3.03 doesn't work for me. I tried re-installing and didn't work either. :(
|
3.03
nice.. But I cant use it Because Someone Banned my IP adres! why I got banned because somebody upgraded my acc? I really didnt know he was a hacker more ppl did pm he really upgrade them so I did that 2 ... :( |
Don't give out your password.
|
Still don't like it x_x
you Can Not resize window, and that annoying cursor is still there! |
It won't even load for me..

Maybe it would be a good idea to make the special cursor only for fullscreen mode though, and keep the default windows cursor in window mode? |

The speed is supreme.
Where i have to disable d3d to keep lag low (kingdoms) i can work even faster with lights than without lights in v2. |
yea i do feel alot less laggy Thank You

Bugs that I have found:
1) Problems with the onwall check. 2) Body MNG isn't animated, and the background color isn't being transparent. 3) It enters an extra, blank line in text, apparently... I have to press up twice to get something that I previously said. 4) Shield isn't drawn in the right place...? (This is most likely a gani problem, though.) Also, I want the spacebar equivalent of S back. :( I like the spacebar far more than the S key. More things that I miss: 1) Old cursor. (The most unoriginal... er... missing... ever... ok, that doesn't make any sense. My brain hurts.) 2) Resizing the window. 3) Being able to drag the playerlist outside of the Graal window area... I always pressed F7, and moved the Graal window over a bit so that the playerlist doesn't cover it. 4) X buttons on the F# windows. I don't like toggles for things like that. |

And I, for one will complain until I see the stronger points incorporated into the new version.

To Luigi1: 1. onwall check: it's more accurate yes 2. pngs and mngs are working if the image is correct, if an image is not working then use the gif2mng tool, that works for most pngs and mngs. 3. Fixed the empty lines in the chat field history, download v3.03 rev1 4. shield - dont know, have not seen incorrect shields yet About resizing windows: Yes that can be added (when I get time), moving the playerlist outside the window is not really possible though, if you have ideas to make the in-game playerlist work better then please tell me. |

I believe a older version had the ability to put the player list in a portion of the actuall gaming window, you may want to try that. (solid colors, no moving it)

Yes it would be possible to put the playerlist on the left or right side and make the frame for the game smaller
|
that would be perfectly acceptable, now do me a favor and forget that silly cursor Idea, it's horrible and I shun you for ever thinking it.
[EDIT] you don't need that cursor to complete a server-customizable gui! [/EDIT] |
