Get 16 bit please!

Png, great! 8 bit... cough. Of coarse this means higher sizes. More downloading... Game making is all about restrictions, and how much you hate them.

ReBorn_Spirit 10-31-2003 08:14 AM

You do know that you can Convert Images to .gif and .png
but .png isnt Animated like the .gif
oh an that .mng
What is .MNG anyways and why did you put it in Graal
Don't .gif work good enough for Animations?

Wrong forum. This belongs in Future Improvements, not in graal2002 suggestions. -_-

PNG > GIF(Non-animated), JPG, JPEG
MNG > GIF (Animated)

Gif isn't allowed anymore, because it has a patent. PNGs and MNGs have better overall quality and filesize as well.

DustyPorViva 10-31-2003 11:06 AM

GIFs are allowed...

There was a whole thread a while ago verifying that Graal can actually use them again.

GIFs I believe are better because we can actually see what they look like without opening a Graal program.

Incorrect. GIFs are free to use once again.

Ah, well either way I choose to use the better format. :)

What the hell? You can see PNGs and MNGs fine outside of graal. What are you trying to say?

LMAO, apparently he has no program capable of handling those formats.

...however, Graal's current .mng format is a bit screwed up. Which is another reason I want 3.1! :(

Thought 10-31-2003 11:37 AM

First, .GIFs are free to use again, however, .GIFs suck. :)

Graal 3.0 supports (or at least half-way does) 16 bit PNGs.

So you just need to wait for the new client.

DustyPorViva 10-31-2003 02:12 PM

Actaully I don't have a program that can support the MNG format...

adam 10-31-2003 05:32 PM

It doesn't matter if you can find a program that supports mng. Just use gani's for the animation.

If your talented enough to make a good animated gif, Surely you can make the sprites in png and use gani to animate it.

You're making the flawed assumption that ganis are inherently better than .mngs. And, I thought you quit. Perhaps you should retire to the location of your profile - I'm sure you'll enjoy it there, as you'll always have someone to agree with all of your foolishness.

are you saying 3.0 supports 8bit PNG's? or it only supports half the image

and to Lance - Ouch.

No, halfway meaning buggy, much like 3.0's MNG support.

I was merely suggesting a viable alternative. As many find it difficult to find mng programs.

No doubt each format has advantages and disadvantages.

And You have also made a flawed assumption.

That I always agree with my actions inside my head. :p
Few people live without regrets.

As I understood, Graal 3.0 supports 24-bit images (full color png and jpg).
