I find it funny that you don't help much.
 

I think alot of people are are good scripts like Kai, don't help others as much as they should be. I mean, like if someone come son here asking for help and to fix a part of a script that isn't working because of some variables messing up that they didn't mean to use or wenn't supposed to or soemthing like that, then kai or falcor just delete the thread. Then the player that needed help will become either mad and angry and spam a bunch and mabey get banned, or they will become discouraged and think the entire game is made up of people like this and leave.
Mabey if you thought for one second that the way you treat others will affect their thought of how other will treat them on the game, then you would probably help more.

I was just looking through and saw the one about the hand car. I was about tor reply and say it in that one, but "someone" deleted it.

Alot of these people are complete idiots, or atleast portray themselves as such, so what makes you think they deserve "help" even though they are asking for complete scripts?

why should people get the easy way out when (most of us) we learned by ourselves, let them learn on there own, I agree with chad, most of them ARE idiots that shouldn't even be attempting to script

But anyway, the people asking for full scripts et cetera should be stopped from doing so.

I said that people asking for while scripts should be hog tied and poked in the eyes. But asking people to fix parts of a script or asking people what is what in part of a script is what im talking about. In that thread, someone said that if you ask for parts of a script or ask people to help you, you won't get it.

Here you can get serious assistance...not many lines of code usually, but you can get advice.

This place is not very loving. You don't get much help if your new and people won't take the time to explain thigns to them. Atleast level makers are understandable. Aragh, im using a double-standard. Oh well.

not many things that can go wrong in a level though, besides generally looking horrible or a few tile errors.

it doesnt have to be very loving, this is a development forum, not a gerneral discussion forum

and level making is also development.... You guys just hate helping while we write big paragraphs on tips, whats wrong, how to fix it, etc.... EVEN if its some dumb as **** that can't make levels, we will help him.

Tiling is an art.

Scripting is more of a science; there is generally a single most efficient way to get a script to do what you want it to do.


As such, there are many more good tilers than good scripters. A lot of other factors as well.

It would be good if someone did help. I dont mean all the threads like before ''Help'' etc... but the only way more people will script or get into scripting is if they can get help, else it may put them off. Same with levels most people mock while I try and give constructive comments then atleast that person feels better instead of giving up due to mass of insults. But yes I do half agree they may see it as a free ride, and end up copying all there scripts from others!

So your saying that if we dont understand a certain thing in a script that we should give up??? maybe some people arent as perfect as you are and might need some help here and there.....so if you were just learning and some said to you " my god you dont know what a string is you shouldnt even be scripting then"...would that give oyu much confidence?? i think not.

anyway, you can close this now, I just thought I'd get my point across about how scripters are more agressive when it comes to help then level makers.

Not only is he SMART, but he's arogant. Theres no way you can win one with him. He always has an excuse, and he also always has the last word. Don't bother, inless you want to be torn from limb to limb. Let him be, you can't change him. Either way, this just adds to my theory of NAT's being lazy. Look in the Levels Forums. Every one helps each other out.

And the whole level making thing.. If somebody DID ask for a level, we wouldn't delete thier post.. Spark or I would explain to him why he shouldn't ask for that, and I would maybe give him a suggestion or two on how to make the level he wants.

good points but scripting is COMPLETELLY different than level making and it requires at least 3/4 of a mind and most people seem to not meet this requirement

If you can't respect some one enough to even reply to them, bothering to tell them not to do that. Lets say, you delete a post. Do you bother to send the kid a PM saying to read the rules?
People are lazy, and they shouldn't be; but is it THAT hard to sent them a PM? If you do send people PM's. "Whoops, my bad", and I apologize.. But I get this feeling you don't. Not sure where that comes from, but I'm pretty sure I'm right.

Personally, I don't care how good of a scripter you are, I don't care how arogant you are; I don't care how many clever phrases you can spew out. The truth is, you need to be "nice". Give people the respect to talk to them. How long has it been since you were a 12 year old? No offense to you "youngin" out there, but you all need to follow the rules. I agree with you there Kai'. They NEED to read the rules; but they don't. You have every right to delete the post, but go ahead and PM them telling/linking them to the website. For god sakes, drop the hard ass appearance. As far as I can see it's not "fore bayed" (I'm assuming you mean forbidden). I say this based on the sheer amount of it that I see every time I browse the forums. A better question to ask would be something such as "What is the world coming to, when ignorance is so commonplace on these forums?"

Some people :cough:Kaimetsu:cough: are truly "jerks" and should stick to doing what they do instead of punishing people on the forums. You can be the best scripter in the world or whatever in the world, but if you have a bad attitude no one will like you.... They are breaking the "rules", however stupid they are, maybe you should explain in that post that you cant give out a full script but give them some scripting help they wouldnt possibly understand if they didnt make the script... it would probably help the "smarter" people to see howto do certain things

Wonder why you haven't seen me in ages? I'm tired of the stupidity of many people who can't read "don't ask for full scripts". I get too many people saying "join my playerworld!" or other things, it gets old. I stopped coming on AIM for a while too, just until recently. Most of the time I can be found on 2k2 Debug or sometimes on Kingdoms. But I am going to give forums another chance. I have my own PW, so why would I really want to join one? And I love to help people learn to script better, but I refuse to help people who PM me "can you make me a skateboard script" or "do you have the skateboard script" like somehow there is one script that I magically have, and that I"m too ignorant to make my own. I get people occasionally that show me some of their work and want to learn to improve, and I'm all for that. And I support Kai in his actions fully. So if you have a problem w/ him, you've got a problem with me ;)

Newbie Scripters are lazier than Expert Scripters in my opinion. Because the few I have ran into never want to read and just want it all coded for them.

Making an "I hate Kaimetsu/his behaviour" thread will surely make him happy and nicer towards you...

I'm not looking for his frienship Com'. I don't think ANYBODY wants that..

But I doubt it will even change anything when he's annoyed. Of course you can say what you dislike, but it might be more successful if it is said in a nice way.
