Yes =\
Players with no gold subscribers can't access the forums... sadly that means there is no good "customer support" for them :/

I am browsing the forums from my Technical School, and I can still see the forums and everything.. I just logged in to reply.. *logs back out*

seems nothing changed, just the title is longer and explains more.

It's basically a nice way of saying "Goobye cookie users. Whack!"

Ghost Pirate 09-05-2002 08:43 AM

It seems unixmad has given out his last cookie to those no longer subscribing

Milkdude99 09-05-2002 07:23 PM

And now Account Sharing is illegal too.

Unixmad really knows how to ruin a good game.

Googi 09-07-2002 03:56 AM

Bleh, Account sharing isn't the safest thing in the world anyways.

That is why people do not share accounts with any random person. People are sharing their accounts with thier friends because thier friends cant afford the price of this game, or they are just too young and do not have a credit card of their own, such as me.

I've been playing graal for a long time, and I like it, it's been a part of my everyday life for at least a year. I'm disappointed that I'll have to leave it now because Unixmad is charging a ton of money to play it.

Graal isn't worth $40. The Guild CP thingy was down for A LONG TIME, what is our $40 going to?

I personally think they should lower the price of a Classic Account to $9 for a year, the gold servers to something like 12 or 15 a year. I know plenty of more people who would upgrade for a more reasonable price like that, and parents would feel a lot better about upgrading for their kids.

Jinx,
How can you support the Game by sharing an account? Reality is, it's not and the Game cannot survive without revenue, granted you may not think it is worth $40 a year and yet this is the price of what 3 CDs? And how many CD's does the average teenager but a year? Or Games for that matter; 1 CD is that or more... not worth it ? Depends on your view and how you value and spend your money on I suppose. To me, maybe if Stefan and Unixmad lowered the price to $25 a year , it may bring more players thus more revenue to the game other than the way it is.The volume of more players should make up any "lost " revenue by lowering the price , as for the lowering the "Classic players" no I disagree , do not lower it for this is where the "bulk" of the revenue will come from not the Gold Servers.

AlexH 09-07-2002 05:38 AM

I really doubt Stefan and Unix make much if any profit from Graal.

The main assets they would get from the game are people buying accounts and it's not like sales are booming. Yes they make some from the store thing but not to much I would presume.

Now take the liabilities they have to pay out. The running of the servers and the wages that the people in the office get paid.

I assume that the liabilities out weigh the assets greatly therefore they are losing money.

Running servers can't be too cheap. :(

No their not and the last time I talked to Unixmad about this there were 20 servers , YES 20 , not all of them are for Graal but still company wide there are at least 20 to maintain and that is not a small feat to keep up in costs to run with...

Shutup. You're forgetting...Most people that play graal are not 40 year olds like you... and your wife. in fact I think you are the only two people that play graal above the age of 30(excluding stefan and unixmad), most don't have an annual income, and most have parents that don't want to pay money so that their kid can spend MORE time on a computer. You should let unix and stefan worry about their business, unless you work for cyberjeours(sp?) with them.

That comment was two things:

Totally uncalled for.

And totally irrelevant to his post.

um, the forums should be open to everyone. the people with the "higher talent" are heard more, and the game itself moves faster with development.

i have better ways they could sustain the money issue while still giving free reign to the site...but, neh.

They shouldnt make people buy a new graal account if they JUST want to use the forums. They should make a seperate whole thing for the forums. IT would cost like 7 dollars to subscribe to the forums and you can just use the forums. And if you bought a graal gold account you would get the game AND the forums..... If they wanted to make money..... thats the way to do it ebcause instead of getting nothing from the people who want to JUST use the forums and wont pay like 40 dollars.... they would most likely get 7 dollars from them....

Googi 09-07-2002 09:41 PM

Re: ...

Actually, similar to what you said, it should be the $40 for the game, and then an extra $7 for the forums, so if you wanted the game and forums, you paid $47 dollars. If you wanted just the forums you pay $7, and if you want just the game you pay $40.

btw, why hasn't this post been deleted?

According to Unixmad's rules, this forum is for graal 2001 stuff only, THIS IS NOT A GENERAL GRAAL FORUM.

This is my last post, I would gladly keep arguing, but I don't want to get Gobooms account banned.

EDIT: (something I thought I should add, while still keeping my promise that it would be my last post)

If Unixmad offered an option to only pay for a forum account, chances are I would buy it, along with many other people.

Graal was a fun game back before it was p2p. I can understand them charging us money, I'd probibly do it too if I were in Stefan's/Unixmad's place. But it just seems that now all they care about is making more money. Graal 2002 IS STILL IN THE ALPHA STAGE, and yet they're working on trying to expand their company to GBA. They should work with what they have and make it worth 40 dollars before they try and expand their business and make more money.

Minoc.... to you the forums are worth like 1 dollar. But to people (well im guessing) like googi who has like 3000 posts it may be worth more. Now I just started posting stuff here and to tell the truth...... i like it and if i didnt have a graal account and didnt want to buy a new one just for forums..... i would pay the 7 dollars just to post stuff here.

Why pay for things you can get for free?
Anyone could make his own graal forums and get alot of people to post there =\

You can't get great communities like Something Awful for free.

And, no, you can't. It's been tried. Graal Network, for example.

Graal Network was good, but it could have been better.

It didn't have even half the userbase that these forums have, though, that's the thing. :\

The only problem is that you must have a gold account for Graal to get customer supporter =\
