Shaded Legends (LAT Contest)
Completed: Testing Phase
I'll add the names in later. [ 5 people did not bother to test in the last four days, probably didn't get the email. They were deleted. ] Next Phase: Tutorial Watch a tutorial, mimic and try to slightly mimic the tutorial. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/b374ac66.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/40d7b5e9.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/fb9e2343.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/260c49e6.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/3983ce44.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/cc75be95.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/faa69265.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/784078e8.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/0f1315a0.png http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...e/4934de99.png |

It might have been a better idea to hold a tileset contest first.

It would kind of suck that they would be the first ones losing though.. Anyway, they are all working on type1 as well as beta testing it. :] So far it seems to be alright, I have just updated it so it should be much easier, have cliff tiles, as well as a few other added things. Some were decent, this next one they will review a tutorial and try to create an outside like Shaded Legends. ^.^; |
This thread confuses me.

http://www.graalians.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4849 This is for the Shaded Legends "So you think you can LAT?" contest. 20 contestants, 6 winners. No experience, gold, or offline editor needed. I will teach them and the ones who are the fastest learners and best personalities shall win. They will have the chance to become LAT should they want to also. They had four days to test it out. :D 10 days to make a level, 20 days to make a final level. So far there are 15-16 contestants. |

No offense, but all those levels are pretty poor =\. #3 is the only one that is semi good. Just passing on my feedback

As the contest states, no experience required, and it was in the testing phase.
You all shouldn't expect much from people first starting and testing a levels editor... Here are the results of Assignment 1. Sadly I'm not very organized so I don't have names :/.. Late newcomers, old people kicked... some switched around... Sorry. Room - 02 : Askew was hired as a LAT. : Well done. Could Fix: Redundancy in tables, one rock if picked up would show a tile error, fence pieces could be layered in the future. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...t/47b9af55.png Room - 04 : Not bad. Could Fix: Missing corner pieces, chairs look odd around the table but uses nice perspective which is a plus. Once again could use layers for the top part of the pole fence thing, and I need to redo the corner house piece. Could use more details to the ground. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...t/68d0f1a4.png Room - 05 : Good job. Could Fix: I forgot to clear my block. D: The level looks alright, however the bushes through the grass ridges don't look that great. Almost as if saying the ridges aren't making the ground go up or down.. Can't really fix it but to redo the bushes not over many ridges. The house is kind of funky too... Other than that the level looks decent. I've used transitions like this in the past, however sometimes it doesn't look great, layers should fix it. (The road and grass) Also, some bushes can be hit and show errors. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...t/1e259e2c.png Room - 06 : Not too bad. Could Fix: A 2x2 dirt hole type tiles are creating a tile error in a grass corner, and the roof looks slightly plain... Also, some rock shadow looks kind of odd and would be weird if picked up. I've helped tell you about one bush line, but the other two were left with black edges. Could do a little better for the ground details but you did alright. Also, the roads are too small on the bottom, and look too natural.. but the place looks like a mansion so could possibly be as such. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...t/cdf68517.png Room - 07 : Alright Could Fix: The house looks semi alright, the top is slightly too far up front, and some of the walls are using wall ends which I've mentioned in the past. This level looks too symmetrical and has tile errors / missing grass corner pieces. More details and ridging could be added. The entrance is just weird though... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...t/afc16d6d.png Room - 10 : Alright This level is definitely unique... However, it is also full of tile errors, and some not even because I believe you have the wrong tileset. Need to work on the ground details like ridging and details in general, but overall the creativity is good. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...t/8ef2fca7.png Room - 15 : ._o Could Fix: Well.. It did look like someone did actually try and start something... Yeah... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...t/8d21bc00.png Room - 20 : Good start. Could Fix: Well.. can't say too much.. there really are no details but the bushes are missing the correct corner tiles. I also like that you are using a small tilesheet in the top left. I think the roads are too ... perfect? and not that natural in a rural area. Not sure why there are chests on the roof. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...t/38549f2c.png Some of these houses were way too big. Should there be a final assignment or should this be it? I feel like for this being the first assignment some of you have learned a lot so far. The next assignment will be quest like. |
The 1st one is certainly the best out of the lot.
|
That was why he was hired straight off. ^.^; Still needs a little practice, but I think he is pretty good.
|
