DrakilorP2P 10-25-2008 02:51 AM

Virus databases are silly sometimes.

xXziroXx 10-25-2008 02:51 AM

Maybe related?

No, definately related. I've seen this one false-reported by several other AV programs several times now. Weird ;o

Bottom line is that it's nothing to worry about until the warning starts popping up for either unknown files/applications, or more then just RemoteControl2.exe.

DrakilorP2P 10-25-2008 03:41 AM

py2exe was once falsely categorized as malware because someone used it to write a trojan.

An error, obviously.

DustyPorViva 10-25-2008 06:55 AM

Stefan's plan to control the world. You're just a pawn.

Pimmeh 10-25-2008 07:02 AM

Are you guys sure? I dont wanna get screwed over by Graal :P

DustyPorViva 10-25-2008 07:04 AM

Stefan just wants access to all your porn. What's the harm in that? Share the wealth!

Nabru 10-25-2008 08:30 AM

False Positive.

You shouldn't worry about every single "Virus" alert. It even says it might be a Virus or unwanted program, which could technically mean that the Anti-Virus program THINKS it's a bad program.

Galdor 10-26-2008 06:12 PM

Ignoring the detection wont work, it just pops back up.
I cant use RC atm >=O

DustyPorViva 10-26-2008 06:12 PM

Put it on the whitelist.

Elizabeth 10-27-2008 01:15 AM

Crono 10-27-2008 02:41 AM

Then why are you posting here? If Graal was actually trying to screw you over, do you think they would allow anyone to post here pointing it out? Of course everything you are going to hear from this forum is that it is a false positive.

Which it obviously is.

Remote Client - Executible... TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen - Trojan

Obviously some sort of mistake, but Avira is acknowledging the Remote Client Executible as the TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen - Trojan.

It's been doing this for about a week, and actually deleted mine - so now I have to use the scripted RC. Sort of an inconvenience.

Correction would be nice.

maximus_asinus 11-10-2008 01:40 AM

is it possible for you to mark it as an exception? I haven't used Avira myself so I don't know if that is an option.

xXziroXx 11-10-2008 01:43 AM

Use the search function.

If you get one, they'll probably just say what's been said in the other thread: The result is a false positive.

You can go here to see how to deal with false positives with Avira: http://www.avira.com/en/support/faq/details.html?id=100

Contains mostly what Stefan says about detection of Graal programs as virus/spyware.

Same thing always happened to me, I couldn't find any way to mark it as an exception.

DustyPorViva 11-10-2008 04:32 AM

I've guided someone through the steps to whitelisting programs. I forgot how, but it has something to do with expert mode, I believe. It's there somewhere.

From the link I posted:

In the Configuration window, in Expert mode, you can set exception for Scanner and Guard, to exclude from scanning certain active processes, directories and files.

It just means you're not fit to be staff anywhere. Allow your A/vSoft to remove your executable.
