How come Graal3D wasnt made from scratch? without Torque.

Focus on the game, not the engine?

Their working on the V3 game engine, and I think it would be too hard for the GO staff to make a 3D engine from scrap without alot of workers.

look how crappy runescape is. and how many people play that!

Thats due to gameplay, so it's good to have a good engine and focus on what the player will be able to do.

Like as spark said, just look at Unholy Nation (No offence, new UN was looking nice 2 months ago).

I haven't seen the new P.S.O but Zelda is cell shading... but Graal3D isn't?
Its just slightly cartoony, like the current Graal :o

Here's a thought, why did these pictures get posted on the main forums before they got posted on the VIP forums? *boggles* I mean really, now I REALLY see no point in wasting money upgrading to VIP, I just paid for the right to see the stuff long before the rest of graal does, and I didn't anyways. *boggles*

The VIP forums are in the VIP guildCP, and we should have had access to these screenshots long before anyone else has, especially considering we have posts specifically asking when we will be able to see them. *boggles* The fact that they were posted here first makes me question the point in being a VIP, The only thing I got for my VIP suscription cash was a (VIP) tag and the ability to create a guild. <sarcasm> Yay, Yipee, Woohoo! </sarcasm>

cel shaded is an awesome idea! I would pursue that.. those screens looks really cheesy to me. like a bad ps1 game..

Well I found the Graal3D screenshots as they are public, im sure someone else would have.

We were promised a working beta before the others, not screenshots, hold your tongue (or fingers rather...)

cel shading = tha shiz, yes, but they purchased a Torque engine, not cel-shading :\, maybe next time they decide to revamp Graal

3d is 3d to me, though I could care less which way Graal goes, I'd explain my standpoint better, but I doubt anyone would comprehend/care

Cell shading is a rendering technique not an engine, it is probably possible to allow cell shaded 3d-playerworlds.

You will have the first of the game its self, and you have hosting. There are many things for VIP. But if you have VIP and GOLD then don't moan about the lack of features, they are designed as seperate account types so if you have GOLD then you should have looked and considered the VIP differences.

Yah, what the hell... Spark did something nice, and all you did was ***** about it, blergh that isn't very nice... a thank probably wouldve worked.

Pfft. Make a reference model with spiked hair so you can tell some difference. Also, it would be nice if Graal came with some kind of "basic character modeler".

You know, where you get to edit the heads/bodies/other things using some basic tools. XD! Would be nice.

We are testing different modelers and try to convince them to make low price for graalians. Making a new character is not so easy though, you need to have a skeleton, skin the character, make several level of details etc.
For playerworlds it will also be possible to use md3 models, they are not as high quality though.

When that last test release of graal3d came out (about a month or 2 ago I think?)
I looked at the files with notepad and found it was hard but still fun to make characters :)
I tihnk I could do it if there was an editor or something :cool:

So in other words, a business partnership? I doubt you could convince them to lower the price unless you dug some money out of your companies profits. It would probably be less expensive to hire experienced meshers and skinners for the initial body models that you're going to use, initial objects, etc (if you'll only hire them temporarily). Afterwards you could probably offer a meshing program in a playerworld package, offer the company offering it advertisement space on playerworld sites, maybe even the main site (would probably work better), and also the extra fee from the playerworld package... Don't spit all of your time advertising just one thing though. Also, no popups.

But yea... you won't get anywhere in this deal unless you have something to offer.
