To be an EM is fun AND a burden. I think you must find a way to have motivated EM's with different ideas.
What about temporary EM's for a week or EM's hosting on a specific day (Monday, Tuesday...)? Just an idea. My experience is that new EM's hosting many events and after a few days they lose interest or getting sick about players disturbing events.

What I get sick of is EVERYONE asking for raffle. All the time. It's pretty much raffle, waterglass or musical chairs. Thats all people want.
No one even wants to do soccer anymore. People used to jump at the chance to do that.

Now let me tell you why I don't host as much as I used to.

I hate logging. Sorry. I still host more than most of the EMs. I just HATE logging them.

I don't mind it that much. Atleast its not as hard to fill out as the old one. Where we had to put down the account name for whoever won a prize. Which gets crazy when Graal718272 accounts get into it.

That's an important point! There are many people just wants to have events for getting free stuff without doing anything.
Events like raffles should only made for low prices like food, lvl. 1-3 maps and such things.
One big problem of GK is that players didn't get that it is a roleplay- and community-server in the first row!
GK lacks on headmen like Alan. He was able to lead his citizens in war and peace and make amazing ship battles and stuff.

GK is boring when players just sit and wait instead get in action. I am sick about people just sitting there and waiting for others to entertain them.

I've noticed that most players don't care about role playing and kingdom activity. When I was Governor of CP I planned big events at least every 2 weeks but people didn't turn up so I was forced to cancel them.

One of the major problems Sam is that people just dont want to RP anymore. Some think its nerdy, and some are just to childish to get into it. Personally I like RPing some of the time, but also I dont want to have to type in proper English and punctuation 24/7, it just gets annoying as hell. And this server is community oriented likely as its most attractive facet, thats why i have always came back, to see my friends, otherwise I wouldnt play this game. But once youve done everything about 1000 times Sam it gets boring as hell. And when new updates come out such as Vanirs that get nerfed so bad that people dont even want to play the new content they are left wanting for event items. And another problem is that like in World of Warcraft we dont have quests and such that can help lower level players get decent gear, which makes it very hard for them to rise from nothing to something without help from people. Being a noob and not understanding how the game works, to log on and try to get items that dont even exist for you to lose at a low level makes it really unattractive to play, because its like Russia in the 20th century, theres a huge gap between the rich and the poor. And as long as items are given away in events and such then it will remain that way, the poor will get bought out by the rich and then be left to try to make their way with Ice shields and such. I really think the whole STAT point system needs to be redone into not a 30 stat, but a 100 stat system, where everything scales the same exact way and with gold keys you can hit 20 natural. Then from there make items that currently have 1 str on it give 10 str in the new system or w/e would make it scale perfectly for current gear to give the same stats in a 100 max system and then that would open up massive amounts of gear to have stats that werent so restricted and it would allow new players to get more gear because more gear could be made without it being overpowered.

It's called time management Ravenblade. If you're going to volunteer to do something, that means you better have time to do it. School comes up? That's too damn bad, guess you're going to have to choose one over the other. Gotta get job? Quit hosting events and do it. That doesn't mean become an inactive staff member, it means quit. If you volunteer to something, you had better have time set aside for it. That's the exact same problem everyone had with Bjorn. He wouldn't step down, but then when we *****ed about his inactivity "BLAH BLAH SCHOOL BLAH BLAH WORK".

I think you misunderstood what I was talking about. I was talking about low playercount. Not the EM's themself.

You should reread what you quoted there. Sounds pretty straight forward to me.

"Generally I found that unless its a holiday or summer there's not many people on due to school/university/college/work"

Where in this was I talking about staff? Please enlighten me Pojo. From the looks of it I was posting about the playercount.
