I'm sure he's a great scripter, but that isn't exactly the point here.

konidias 09-22-2006 11:22 AM

I don't plan on releasing any more screenshots because I plan on having a private release soon and then a public one and I really don't want to spoil anything by showing stuff before release. Plus it's not half as great seeing screenshots as it is experiencing the real deal.

Googi, this thread has nothing to do with NPC Kings, please don't bring them up here. We've already discussed this in another thread and pretty much anyone who read it could conclude that arguing about it is not going to accomplish anything. Nobody can say that npc kings will fail or succeed like it's a fact until it's actually put in action and tested, so I really don't need another opinion war in this thread. Maybe they will fail, I really can't be sure. The point I'm making is that I'm trying something different. I hope you can at least have some respect for that and I hope that you're open to at least trying it and then giving your opinion.

Anyway, since I won't post screenshots I might as well say that progress is moving along nicely and we've gotten so much done already. We spent hours yesterday putting together the time/date/season system. It's a world all it's own really... There will be the four seasons (spring, summer, autumn, winter) and they will consist of roughly 90 Graal days each. (which equals roughly 45 real days each) Meaning there will be 2 Graal years for every 1 real year. (which just means that time is twice as fast)

I think this time system is going to be great and it's extremely simple for us developers to make npcs such as townspeople work with the time system. There is also a replacement for the top center section of the GUI. Probably one of the more dramatic changes to the server really. We're replacing the gralat/bombcount/arrowcount/time area with a whole new thing that will show the time and also the weather (in a very visual way). :)

We still have a whole heck of a lot of work left to go but I'm confident you guys will see a full and completed public release this year.

Damix2 09-22-2006 04:15 PM

I would actually make time 4 times as fast as real time. Weird request I know, but I think it would work better for the game.

Don't say such things I might have to murder you :) <3

Sage_Shadowbane 09-22-2006 07:47 PM

I remember konidias posting about releasing 2k1 in September...if you guys still plan on releasing it this month, will it be a private release?

ZeroTrack 09-22-2006 08:06 PM

If we get enough done then yes

Trust me, if it's anything like what I saw before, I'd get wet...

Androk2 09-24-2006 03:40 PM

Koni's remake seems, at least to me, to be true to spirit of Graal 2001. As far as I usnerdtand he is focusing on economy and fun quests rather then the most recent remake which tried to revive roleplaying (FYI, that idea has been tossed to Lance by me and Kyden way back in the day XD). So yeah, it's still true to the spirit of the server!

Like, that's what I wanna hear ;)

WanDaMan 09-24-2006 07:25 PM

Ugh - without showing will just increase the anticipation; people will believe that you're not showing because it's awesome, will you be able to live up to such accusations?

I'd also be concerned about people losing interest and going elsewhere while waiting to see something from the server. Sure word of mouth is a good thing, but without seeing the content for themselves, its hard to stay interested, even if the server has as much history as this one.

Ah, yes. That also :)

ZeroTrack 09-25-2006 02:17 AM

Err... trust me ... you don't wanna lose interest in this, i have dreams about this server after i get off work on it all day lol

Still a whole lot left to do. Hopefully we can still open for a private release on September 28th. (my birthday ) It's going to be invite only so I'll more than likely be doing that on the 27th. (if we get enough done)

The reason for the private release is to work out bugs only. It's not for people to play and start getting items and hours and whatever... because it will all be reset for public release. The private release is purely for testing the server with many players, getting input and adjusting the economy. There is a whole lot of stuff that hasn't been touched yet as far as development goes, and I don't want to get tons of complaints about some job not working or some quest not working because it hasn't even been remade yet or something. Thus the reason I'm not doing a public test.

and... okay so I lied... here's one screenshot of all of the current clothing items so far. Dozens more are added each day. ^^

ME LIKEY, ME LIKEY! I also like pants graphics!

maximus_asinus 09-25-2006 03:10 PM

Interesting bodies, I hope everything is detailed like that, that Mario kicks ass.

xAndrewx 09-25-2006 06:26 PM

looking hot :D

Sage_Shadowbane 09-25-2006 08:55 PM

Oh, I know what goes into a beta test. I still want in though. C'mon, you know you want to.

ZeroTrack 09-25-2006 09:23 PM

LoL he trimmed off the gui =( , the gui is sexy :)

warp2ukew 09-26-2006 01:24 AM

Konidias is definitly the guy for the job, he is well motivated and knows what he is doing. Sern is one of the best scripters I have ever encountered, and has helped me on numerous projects. slp owns, 'nuff said. Tom is good at gfx, :D.

Is Googi still FAQ Admin and me a FAQ? XD

KuJi 09-26-2006 01:58 AM

Contiga.. you choose me!

Perhaps ;)

maximus_asinus 09-26-2006 06:09 PM

I'm hoping you don't just pick your friends for private release, or the people who've kissed your ass to this point.

ZeroTrack 09-26-2006 07:41 PM

I plan on picking people who have been with graal for a long time and have knowledge of how gservers work for my picks. Its the only logical choice =p

WanDaMan 09-26-2006 07:58 PM

You need opinions on the server from all types of Graalians. A good 70% of oldbies don't play Graal anymore.

But I am still here =).

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
1lvx

contiga 09-26-2006 09:35 PM

Like, Andrew knows what attracts players, he might be a good candidate ;)
Maybe Wan also, since he has a good feeling for what levels are nice / not, and has brilliant ideas for servers (seen from VS: Conflict). He'll sure know what's nice.

And Joey.. hes a genious in knowing how Economy's work =).

Seriously.. ask everyone on GX. I've pretty much reset everytime there was a bit too much money out in the economy so fast. I try to keep it low, I don't plan.. however if I get hosted/classic to reset weekly due to too high. I'll hopefully have enough developed for use =)

I don't want to get technical, but most of the awesome ideas for VS: Conflict were a combination of me, Eagle, and Wan.

But Wan is indeed an amazing level maker.

warp2ukew 09-27-2006 04:24 AM

I'd hope that I am picked by someone. Sern I've known you forever, you know I am an oldbie and I know how gservers / g2k1 works. This is basically the only server I am sticking around for (and Graal X, XD Joey)

I'll be honest with you, my previous perception on levels were that they were the server's strong point of showing off. Well, I was wrong. Players couldn't care any less if the levels are good or bad, either way they'll still play if you can keep them entertained.

That's true, things to do make the people stay,.. which we all can see at Zodiac lol.. fugly levels.. but players :) Tho, if it had better levels + graphics, I'm sure it's playercount would increase again. So levels do matter a bit.
