To go on hosted servers and private servers you need Gold or VIP. With lifetime classic you can watch hosted servers as ghost only.

Yea, and thats the best solution imo.

Ya, except npc's don't load/work for ghost's so a lot of hosted servers aren't even accessible as ghosts. Most of the time I just get stuck in one place because no tileset has loaded.

*shrugs* I seem to recall a large discussion on whether or not that was a good thing, if maybe there should be at least one server where the ghosts aren't as restricted (maybe passwords allowed) so they can Try the game before they buy it, maybe letting developers set a list of 20 or so accounts that can test a server, and the whole thing got shot down by Stefan saying "Shh, we're gonna be changing the way subscriptions work, don't worry about it."
