Ouch... you know I was making sprites while all of you guys were still a glint in the internets's eye.
I didn't touch the map yet apart from generating it, and updating the tileset until I got it to a point where it actually worked. There were a lot of details that had to be murdered to make it look like crap. As for the depth and height of the landscape, I can tell you it really is not going to be that way for the most part. Maybe on some of the more adventurous areas just to be realistic, but you won't be climbing any mountains in or around town.
I posted the screenshot really just because I was happy with how the engine showed depth on even a single color-type tileset. It will be tamed to look more like you would expect of a "classic playerworld".
