Era Rules (Updated 10-14-11)

The rules in the GUI can be somewhat hard to read, and I noticed Era's rules aren't posted on the forums so here they are!

By playing Era, you agree to abide by the rules listed here. If you do not agree, you may not play Era and should log off now.
More rules are available in the Era Rules Room, in the Graal Police building below unstick me.

Getting Heads, Bodies and Shields uploaded

If you want to get something uploaded, press F11 and click "Upload Graphics".

Remember these general rules for uploads:

• No invisible or mostly invisible heads/bodies
• No heads that contain hats that already exist on Era (glasses, bandanas, etc are usually fine)
• No racist, offensive, copyrighted, pornographic, or otherwise indecent graphics. Violations of this may result in a jail or ban.
• No recolors of non-standard heads
• No stealing other players' personal heads

Gangs

• Gang names must not be offensive or contain foul language of any sort.
• If your gang leader is banned for 7 or more days, the gang is destroyed, no questions asked.

Parking your car

There are some general guidelines when parking your car.
First, your car should always be parked if you are not near. Also, you shouldn't park your car on other cars or in between parking spaces.

Having your car parked "safe" doesn't mean it can't be towed! Aslong as you are parking right, it shouldn't be towed though.
If you park your car in a forbidden parking zone, it will automatically be towed after 15 minutes.

Official Housing Rules - Last modified 10/14/2011

I. Owning multiple houses
A. Players are not allowed to own more than two houses - if a player owns more than two houses, their houses will be auctioned off until they have only two. Players may (depending on the circumstances) be compensated by receiving some of the auctioned money. Management (Housing Admin) has the full and final decision of the price compensation the players receive for the size of the house, no exceptions.

Note: A house includes: Normal NR houses, Sewer houses, and Apartments

II. Inactivity
A. House owners must be generally active. If a house owner fails to login within 21 days, the house will be taken from the player and will be auctioned off to the general public. After 14 days, before the house is removed, players will receive a warning stating they have 7 days to log on and correct the issue. The original owner of the house will receive none of the auctioned money and any items remaining in the house belonging to the original owner of the house will be stored and the original owner will be able to contact staff to re-obtain said items. If the player plans on being inactive for an extended time period, he or she MUST contact the Housing Admin, explaining their reason for inactivity. This will exempt them from the inactivity rule, in some cases

III. Remodeling personal house levels
A. House owners are allowed to remake any interior/exterior levels in their house as long as he/she follow these guidelines:

• No level can be greater than x3 of the houses exterior. This is for all levels including your garage.
• No custom scripts of any kind are allowed. Only lighting effects are allowed in a level. The limit of lights in the level is dependent upon whichever admin is uploading the level.
• All doors/links leading to another level must be made obvious with something such as a door or a staff block for secret rooms.
• All levels must meet Era's standard of quality, no exceptions.
• Extensive use of basements or floors to avoid Sub-Rule 1, section III. is not allowed.
• We are allowing you to move your house location. However, the outside location must be approved by the Housing Admins and by an Administrator. The fee for moving your house will be determined by the house admins and by an administrator.
• You are allowed to change the exterior of your house; however, the fee is going to be determined by the housing admins and by an administrator. The exterior of the house must fit the interior in terms of size.
• When uploading any level for a house, you must pay a nominal fee.
• Uploading a new level/room: $25,000
• Uploading a new storage level/room (With secure areas and doors): $30,000
• Remodeling/Editing a current room: $15,000 (Major edits, not fixing doors or links etc.)
• Adding “Unstick Me Items”: $5000
• No house may contain anything that gives any player any advantage or privilege over others. This includes, but is not limited to: extensive storage rooms, private spar rooms, and mines.
• Houses are allowed to have exactly one atm.,
• Any door that is “sealed shut,” is allowed to be made into a free non-secure room.
• No house, under any circumstances, is allowed to have instant heal items (Med-Packs).

For all uploaded levels, it is up to the player to do the LAT work. If they choose not to, they may ask the housing administrator to LAT the level for an additional fee.

IV. Subscription Status
A. All house owners must be active Gold/Classic subscription members. If you are inactive/without an active gold/classic subscription for 21 days, the house will be taken from the player and will be auctioned off to the general public. There will be NO WARNING given for this reason. YOU MUST keep an active gold or classic subscription. The original owner of the house will receive none of the auctioned money and any items remaining in the house belonging to the original owner of the house will be stored and the original owner will be able to contact staff to re-obtain said items.

General Rules

Ensure that you are entirely familiar with these rules. Failure to adhere to the rules will result in punishment from the server staff team.

Any ban of 30 days or more results in the player releasing all claims to any and all owned level(s) this includes but is not limited to Player houses, Player Businesses, and Era Hotel Rooms.

Era basically follows the same standards set in the Graal Online Rule of Conduct
Please note that bans apply to you as a person, not your account directly. If you are found to be using another account (including a guest account) while banned, we will not hesitate to ban your new account without notice and raise or reset the time on your original account.

1. Cheating of any kind will <b>not</b> be tolerated.

• Bugs. Bugs in game should be reported immediately to staff members.
• Exploits; graphics editing, modem tapping, etc
• Third party program(s); ‘artmoney’, trainers, macros, etc.

Note: Accounts found to be doing any of the above will be banned without warning. [Reference 1]

2. Good behavior is expected from the staff and players alike. The following is not allowed, and will be enforced with jailing or a ban.

• Harassment
• Extreme Profanity (Extreme cases will not be allowed. Keep it PG-13)
• Racism
• Avoidance of the swear filters functions
• Ignoring a staff member’s <b>reasonable</b> requests
• Failure to report bugs, players disobeying these rules, and exploits
• Massing out inappropriate images or websites (eg: Pornographic images)
• Advertising your server on Era.
• Spar PKing.
• Selling kills or abusing the HP level system (e.g. free kills)
• Interrupting events (such as not PKing and letting yourself be killed)
• Using business or gang tags to scam or sell tags to players.

Purposefully excluding staff members from mass messages for any reason (or no reason) will be considered potentially evading the rules, and will be treated as such

We expect decent behavior on all channels of Graal communication that relate to Era. This includes (but is not limited to) the main game, cross-server communication (e.g. global PMs), and posts on the GraalOnline forum (both the Era section and private forum messages).

Note: Don't bug staff members to give you things you did not earn any way another player could. The Era staff team maintains the right to make special-case judgments or decisions for situations where following this document would be unreasonable.

3. Scamming
Scamming is illegal; however, if you do not use the trade and lend systems in place, we will not return any items. Our goal is to help players learn from their mistakes and take measures to ensure the same mistakes are not made again. We do not want players becoming career victims and utilizing the PR Staff as a crutch or shield versus scams.

Always use the trade window by saying /itemtrade <accountname> and never drop trade. In the event a drop trade is necessary, that is very rare, contact a PR to watch the trade. If you give someone access to your storage, do it at your own risk. Furthermore, when you accept a trade, it is assumed that you agreed with the trade. We will not reverse any trades.

For lends, you say :sendtrade <accountname>

Note: The stealing of mining rocks when using a TNT is not illegal. The NPCs' are not account locked, thus it is not illigal, nor is it stealing to go into a mine someone has TNTed and mine the rocks.

4. Account sharing:
Graal accounts are not supposed to be shared between players. Each account is reserved for the original creator of the account. Accounts found to be shared will be banned from the server without notice. The IP and PC ID will be logged and given to the Accounts Administration Team to be dealt with. Advertising the selling, trading, or giving away of accounts is also not allowed.

5. Cross-server Trading and Non-Era Currencies:
The buying and selling of Era items, gangs, businesses, etcetera for any non-Era currency (USD, Gelats, gift cards, items on other graal servers, etc) is illegal. Any perceived attempt at circumventing detection of selling items for USD will be met bans. Such illegal alternative methods of sale include but are not limited to excluding staff members from masses, asking to talk over AIM or other messaging services, and asking to go to another server to chat. Any player who attempts or succeeds in USDing will be punished accordingly. You will face a full reset and ban of character.

Note: After checking with global administrators, we have confirmed that the rules for selling/trading gelats is determined by the server itself, therefore, Era has decided to make this ILLEGAL. By this we mean, you are not allowed to buy, sell, or trade gelats for any in-Era items. This includes, but is not limited to, gelat codes, or gelats themselves which are later traded in Skill Games. Any player caught doing it will face the punishment set for General USDing. Such punishments include, but is not limited to, jail time, a reset, ban time, or just a warning. Please keep in mind, considering how Gelat Potions are in-game items themselves, you are allowed to sell them for <i>Era-Currency</i> (i.e Guns, Items, or Money) however, you are not allowed to sell the gelats themselves.

6. The selling of either businesses or gangs is illegal. If a player decides they want to quit from either a business or a gang they can make a suggestion on who they want to replace them. However, the ultimate say on who owns the business or gang will be the Gang/Business Admin. He/She will take into account what the previous owner wants as well as what he/she believes would be the best choice.

7. Harrassment
Harassment is defined as a feeling of intense annoyance caused by continued and persistent attacks and/or criticism. Era Rules state that a person commits a crime of harassment when, with intent to harass, annoy, or alarm another person through written or verbal messaging within the confines of Era. Including but not limited to: Graal Online Server: Era, Graal Online: Era RC, Official Graal Forums: Era. A threat is considered harassment when, a declaration of an intention or a determination to inflict harm upon a person’s real physical body is made and/or a warning of something unpleasant is made with the intent to instill fear or dread in a person is made. Continuous pking of a player is not considered harassment. Era is a pking server, therefore, you are expected to arm yourself and participate with other players. In the event a player is following you around pking you, you can hire PPA (say /ppa), do some mining, or ask another player for help. The assailant will be warned and then jailed if he/she continues. Jailings will range from 1-2 hours. Numerous jailings will result in a 14 day ban.

As initially stated within the Graal Code of Conduct, this is a Rated PG-13 video game. The inclusion of any discrimination of the outside world is strictly prohibited; you absolutely may not use any racial slurs or forms of discrimination against a fellow player. The game is meant to combine people as a community. What you say to a friend privately in a PM or in other desert levels is one thing, but when using racial slurs around other players, we will first ask that you please be careful with what you’re saying. Second offense is a jailing, and third offense is a ban.

Generally, it is up to the player to decide the name for his or her character/party while playing GraalOnline . However, some character/party names will be considered abusive behaviour: for example, names indicating other specific player characters, the players themselves, GraalOnline staff, or any real-life personal information will not be accepted. It is also unacceptable to use profanity, racially or sexually explicit words or generally threatening wording as a player's character/party name. "Kill_XXXX" is an example of an unacceptable name. Judgment of what is and is not disruptive is entirely at the discretion of GraalOnline.

It's a shame the rules I wrote right before being fired were never implemented. They say pretty much the same thing in a much nicer format.

I'll take a look tomorrow. Im sure many rules have been updated/changed so I don't want to just copy and paste it. I'll look at your layout/format though and possibly copy that.

It's also the price people seem to need to pay to learn a lesson these days. People wonder why things are getting so harsh, and I do feel for the oldbies of servers who are really hurting over it, but even some oldbies are going the way of newbies and coming up with ways to make the game worse and not care about a simple jailing.

On Era, for some reason your jail time continues to countdown even if you're not online. To me, that's too lenient. The way it used to be, you had to be online and serve the time on the server you got jailed on. Now, break the rules, get jailed, go to another server and cause trouble there, come back to see your time in jail is up, learn nothing.

Whats spar PKing? and "Avoidance of the swear filter" should be altered since there is no swear filter to avoid, well at least you can choose not to use one.

"Avoidance of the swear filter" would apply, right now, to people who still "avoid the filter" in a way that shows their word to people who DO have the filter turned on.
