I am going to have to agree with you here, especially because that's how Graal used to be updated.

If security issues have been fixed, why not release them now?

Security fixes are not something you advertise as an update in the future...

If someone finds a backdoor in windows os, microsoft doesnt come up with a fix then go, "We fixed the problem! Wait til Windows7 to see it in action!!!"

Its the same here. "We have the solution! Wait until the next version to have features that should be in the client already!!!"

Ya... these client updates only on major releases are silly in more ways than one.

Agreed. I would love minor updates every month or two. New scripting functions, bug fixes, security updates, whatever.

You're not going to keep players by blaming the lack of anti-hack measures on the person making the client.

People aren't going to be around to enjoy the effort you put into your new shiny scripts if there are currently issues with hackers.

This.

I agree that Graal's default security system should be better, but you can't really sit back and let all these guests run around with trainers without scripting protection against them when you have the ability to since it could possibly cause your server to lose players. I mean, it's not really fun for the players playing fairly when people are running around with super speed and wall hacking while shooting/slashing all over the place. It's quite a mess on Zone since a lot of the systems are unstable but I'll work on some trainer protection when I get the chance.

I'd say a bunch of people using trainers to speed hack, walk on walls, or whatever it may be, is the least of Graals problems. Security updates won't help the community grow.

Personally developing anti-hacks is fun, and provides an excellent scripting break from normal systems and so on. At least with scripts we can have them changed immediately to counter new trainers.

Also kinda adds a few things to think about while you develop new systems.

Well from many games, I've seen it this way.

Stefan/unixmad needs to be supported by some anti-hack company other than trying to make there own. Try Gameguard or something ^_^ or maybe even PunkBlaster, but they're kind of weak.

Both Gameguard and PunkBuster are useless.

Who said we're putting all our effort in new scripts? I said I don't welcome the challenge, not that I don't work to stop the trainers.

So be it but.. they only had hacks for Graal features/functionality and nothing specifically targeted at Zodiac.

After I got a hold of the leak and developed protection measures, they advised people to NOT use their trainer on Zodiac, and their next releases included a Macro designed for treadmills on Era, since then I haven't seen any good releases from them.
