Known Bugs - Look here before posting!

This thread is to let people know which bugs have been investigated to cut down on the number of duplicate threads (I will close the current duplicates to lower confusion). The bugs listed here are only those that have been reproduced by other players. If your bug isn't listed here but there is a thread about it, please post in that thread to say that you have the problem too.

If you are having issues with images not being displayed correctly, please try updating DirectX and your video card drivers before posting a new thread.

If you've found a bug that isn't listed here, please post a new thread. Where it applies, please include:
- Where the bug occured (server, level, serverlist, etc)
- How often it happens (all the time, can't get it to happen again)
- Whether or not it happens to other people
- What steps to follow to make the bug occur (if you can)

Most current version is 4.0.3

(!) = needs to be tested in newest version


- Sounds played with playlooped still play after switching servers
EX: Graal2001 Dev, worldk-16.nw. Switch to Zone, and the river sound still players (but not as loud)

- If a player on your global buddylist changes their nickname to one with a guild tag, the guild tag shows on the global buddylist even if they remove the tag.
EX:
typing setnick CheeToS (Hybrid) -> shows CheeToS (Hybrid) on global buddylist
setnick CheeToS -> CheeToS (Hybrid)
setnick Moo -> Moo (Hybrid)
setnick CheeToS (Cow) -> CheeToS (Cow)

- Clientside baddies stop in front of players other than the player hosting the baddies instead of hitting them. (The host can get hurt, other players wont be hurt unless they walk in to the baddies)
EX: #gscript, cheetos_leveltest.nw

- Attempting to stream a playlist file causes Graal to freeze
EX: #gscript, cheetos_play.nw

- When using keydown2 to check if CTRL+key combination is pressed, it only works if you hold the letter key down before you hold CTRL down.
EX: N-Pulse, weapon ctest2. Works when pressing S+CTRL but not CTRL+S

- When reading PMs:
If multiple \s (like \\\) are in a message, it is converted to \ in history
If \ is in a multi-word message, it is converted to " in history

- On Graal Kingdoms, if you click one item in the inventory and quickly click on another, it is registered as a double click on the second item
(Update: looks like it is just not checking if mousex/y delta == 0 in-between clicks)

- Pressing Escape or holding the scrollbar on the playerlist makes the client freeze, so people can avoid being hit more than once

Minor feature requests:
- Make admin message text selectable

- Show if a user is an RC or a player on the global playerlist

Script Fixes:
- Reminder: When pressing F8: "Hmmm it is recreating the serverlist and stuff, need to make it go back into non-maximized mode when the window width and height is set by script, like it does with the minimized mode."

- If somebody sends you a PM on IRC and you leave the channel before reading the PM, the PM will show up twice in the channel list. After reading the PM, neither instance of the person's name disappears and neither can be clicked on

Known Fixes in 4.0.1.4:
- Graal plays a male voice even when the player is female

- When text is on the top edge of the screen, the bottom is clipped off

- fixed size of right-click menus (e.g. in scripted RC)

- mass pms are not logged into F2 anymore (less spam)

- the playerlist only opens one time automatically

- you can hide the chatbar by clicking in the game window

- Joystick issues:
-- Many people walk right endlessly before disabling DirectInput (even when it didn't happen in v2)
-- Some people are having problems with moving the opposite direction when pressing left/right
-- Setting a button to open the chatbar doesn't work

Known fixes in 4.0.1.5
- Chat text and nicknames of the characters on Kingdoms start island intro does not show. It may be a GS2 server-only problem
This could be two problems: 1) It isn't properly reading the client.strings that contain the chat text of the characters (I changed the chat of one of the characters to a static 'testing' and it worked). 2) The client. strings aren't being set

- Players cannot send global PMs on servers they are banned on anymore (after new gserver is uploaded)

- Save the length of the playerlist

- Added new global buddylist features

Known fixes in 4.0.1.8:
- Ghosts cannot switch servers (nothing happens when clicking connect/double clicking a server)

- On Graal Kingdoms, you can make a hammer swing twice
EX: Wield a hammer. Begin walking right, press S, let go of all keys, press down (Do this quickly). The hammer will swing forward and then across. Doesn't happen in v2.

- Bombs aren't destroyed after you leave the level you're in (set a bomb, leave, come back 1 minute later, the bomb is still there)

- Errors in console about level NPCs don't correctly report which NPC the problem is in (like this: GraalScript: Function fakefunc not found in script of )
EX: #gscript, cheetos_nopk.nw

- Type "warpto blah blah" and you will be warped to 0 0 (wasn't a v4 problem)

- When sending toguilds, if " is in the message, every word after the " will be on a new line, and the " will show at the end of the message instead of where the player put it (not being escaped correctly?) (wasn't a v4 problem)

- The default GUI displays over signs (needs to be centered better or drawn over GUI)

- If you connect to one server, then to Graal Kingdoms, you will have your head from the old server on the minimap

- Add CTRL+Arrow (move between words) & CTRL+Shift+Arrow (select word) key combinations

Known fixes in 4.0.1.9:
- If your gani is set to 'sit' while you are hiding under a bush (hiddenstill), you completely disappear (other players can't see too) (v2 makes the bush throw instead)

- Badly written scripts can get executed in other levels.

- sleep command stops working if you leave/re-enter a level
EX: #gscript, cheetos_leveltest.nw, x/y: 17 20. Go through the NPC door (that uses sleep), then go back through the warp in the other level. The door doesn't come back

- If you make another application that uses DirectDraw fullscreen (like another Graal4 instance), Graal's canvas will be blank and the following error appears in the console: Error when loading and initializing DirectDraw

- New weapon caching tries to write weapons using * in the name as * on the local disk
EX: Couldn't open C:/graal/weblevels/weapons/Aeon/*Bomb.code for writing!

Known fixes in 4.0.1.12:
- A certain GIF causes v4, the v2 editor, and v3 Linux to crash (doesn't seem to happen on v2 online). Using setcharprop #c in the script seems to make it crash slower (or not crash at all in the v2 editor).
EX: #gscript, cheetos_v4crash2.nw. Type 'crash'. Sometimes it happens instantly, sometimes a minute or so.

- Using WinXP, if you lock the computer while the playerlist is opened (windows key + L), or if the screen saver appears, an errors occurs: "A Win32 API function failed"

- rotated particles are correctly clipped


- Move the "Don't Save Password" option under the password field so it is more obvious


Known fixes in 4.0.1.13:
- Titles for things in profiles ("Kills", etc) can be edited. Click the title once, wait a second, click again (like renaming files in windows). Also happens in v2

Known fixes in 4.0.2:
- onwall2 does not work properly for npcs using setshape and setshape2, it only works like onwall (detects walls only for the beginning point and not the entire area)
EX: Maloria Dev, weapon cheetostest, level copy_props.nw (use mouse/watch chat text)


Known fixes in 4.0.2.1:
- Particles can exceed their lifetime if the client is frozen
EX: Stand above a torch on Kingdoms, press alt, wait a few seconds, press alt again, and the smoke will be very high and very large

- Bombs thrown into other bombs cause errors after exploding for players that didn't throw the bomb.
EX: You need a second person to test this. N-Pulse, level cheetos_textroom.nw. Have the other person grab a bomb and throw it on top of the other ones. You will get an error, but the person who threw the bomb will not. The error doesn't occur if you throw a bomb into explosions, only on to other bombs.

- Horses can get stuck on beds when hit (happens in v2 too)
EX: #gscript, cheetos_leveltest.nw. Get a horse, stand on the left side of the bed, and get the baddies to hit you from the left

- UDP Fixed

Known fixes in 4.0.2.2:
- When you select a weapon that is close to the right edge of the selection window, the selection color doesn't draw under the entire item (see screenshot below)
EX: N-Pulse, look in your "Toys" bag (type /qmenu off if you don't see the default selection window)

- The 'Input' combobox in Microphone options is empty

- added variable selectedlistplayers to access the list of the players who are selected on the playerlist

- fixed a problem of crashing after deleting an weapon (destroy command), so the maloria laser wars event should not crash on leaving anymore

- Update head icons on the playerlist after downloading a new head


Known fixes in 4.0.2.3:
- The level shown in tooltips when pointing at people on the playerlist isn't updated

- Fixed 32-bit mode transparency problems


Known fixes in 4.0.2.8:
- When using the 'Start in Fullscreen' option with a resolution that is smaller than your Windows resolution, Graal does not fill the entire window (Screenshot). Pressing ALT+Enter twice fixes the problem.

This needs to be updated / explained more:

- Showimgs will disappear if the npc displaying them is not on the screen

That is normal behaviour...

- Scripts (or just bombs) can be transferred to other levels

It's a clientside warping problem that will probably not be resolved (the server is warping the player before he is noticing it and is still sending bombs). Using npc-bombs would solve that.

- Attempting to stream a playlist file causes Graal to freeze

No problem for me

- When using keydown2 to check if CTRL+key combination is pressed, it only works if you hold the letter key down before you hold CTRL down.

Should the script be noticed of such key-press? Because it is normally a built-in functionality which shouldn't be modified ?

- When reading PMs:
If multiple \s (like \\\) are in a message, it is converted to \ in history
If \ is in a multi-word message, it is converted to " in history

Fixed that some versions ago and explained it

- (!) Holding a button and switching to another application causes Graal to keep triggering that key (like firing a weapon)

It was a weird problem making some things on market stands disappear too soon, but I can't reproduce it now so I will remove it.

It probably should recognize it still when CTRL is pressed first. I never press the letter before CTRL, personally. Accepting CTRL+letter and letter+CTRL would make it act the same as v2.

Hmm, it seems different now, but something is still weird. I asked Fry (on v4) to send me this in two separate PMs:

You have tested the microphone already? People told me it works, may be it's more a problem of sound driver or synchronization in special cases?

Nope, just didn't test it yet, busy doing stuff for the end of school People have told me it works too so I will assume it is.

Known fixes in 4.0.2.11:
- Receiving microphone sounds isn't working correctly (sounds like static or really weird digitized sounds, sounds like music in v2)
