Example: Imagine you have a part of a quest where the object is to find an invisible npc, this would show where the npcs are. Although I suppose this can be avoided through several methods, but it's just an example.

Yep, that's exactly what I'm getting at.

Maybe have a serveroption to only show certain information from it to admins? The x/y could be useful for admins to know if there is a bad npc somewhere, but it could be abused like mentioned.

There is a new variable in new scripting engine for hiding the npcs completely - hidetoclients = true
