Just because they are two separate countries, does not mean Rome didn't influence Italy in any way. Who built the buildings, the infrastructure, and the culture that resides in Italy? The Romans did.
The Roman Empire influenced every western culture ever, your point is moot.

Influence =! the same. Most spoken languages today are influenced by Latin. Including, but not limited to Italian. Spanish for example. That's why they're called Romance languages.

Italy uses the language of latin the same way the Romans did
No, Italy uses Italian. No one uses Latin the same way as the Romans because they used it as a commoner, low class language. No one today speaks Latin as a primary language.

Because you used the Roma example. The people of Roma were not slaves and farmers, they spoke and studied Greek and spoke Latin when they wanted to be hood.

So therefore, of course latin would have a bigger influence than Greece.
The entire Roman Empire is a knock off of Greece. Nothing influenced them more than the Greek.

You are just thick-headed aren't you? The origin of the word is Italian and Latin correct? Well, in the public spectrum latin is a dead language -- meaning people still read and write it, just no one speaks in it (not enough people to count to be considered as being alive) So then the only other origin is Italian. I don't know why you feel the need to argue, maybe its because you like to argue over insignificant things. Vendetta is an ITALIAN word.

Going back on topic, like I had stated before, don't just pick random words that sound cool but do not correlate with the theme. Pick a title that actually makes sense and reinforces what the sever is all about.

Incorrect, it doesn't work like that. Latin is the origin. That's really all there is to say about that.

So are you saying the word agriculture is not English? The word protest is not English? A lot of the words we use today are from Latin. Does that mean we have little to no words that we own? False. Vendetta is from Italy. Get over yourself. #youlose

Actually those are both Latin words as well.

A lot of "English" words are stolen from French, Latin and Greek. Before that Old English was almost entirely Germanic based. So the language we have today isn't just a natural progression from that, otherwise we'd be speaking German. Thusly the difference between German and English is all of those French, Latin and Greek words we stole, which is a hell of a lot of words.

Protest is from the Latin protestari.
Agriculture is from the Latin agricultūra.

Old English would not have been German today even if it never progressed. :P

A mod should prob divert this conversation to its own thread in the lounge. :]
