Okay I’ll start with the fact you’re new to levels. Overall its a creative and positive start to level making, due to your use of tiles that are not always easy to use first time.
Paths:
If you look at the image and zoom out, this is what I do most of the time for level ratings. You see that the level is smothered in rocks. That’s a bad move. Over using of any tile is a bad move as it wrecks the whole level, and Jeopardise the judgment of the rest of the level. Okay, in the screen-shot there are some boxes, I will use these to help you. If you look in the brown box, it will show you some tiles you can use on paths. Now the best thing to do when making paths is either:
1.) Do it from scratch
2.) Use PathGen but take out the insides and re-do them
So if your going to use the PathGen, the edit the insides manually, by taking it all out. If you didn't use PathGen, sorry, but it looks like it, as you have used mass of the same tile =]
Fences:
Okay, most people use Symmetry at the start, as they think it looks nice, on some exception it does, but most of the time all it does is make the level look too repeative, and it gives you less chance to be original or creative. Look in the Yellow box you will see some fences, try doing that to make it different, and remember you can have gaps!
Water:
For starters do not use that 4 tile swirl. Just use it for corners etc.. Next problem is that your water is boring and too straight! Use my example in the Yellow Box it shows you how the water is free and looks good as it goes anywhere! There are also so tiles to use in the water
Grass:
Okay, the grass! Well I don’t know if you have, but if so, Never right-click to fill detail. There are so many grass tiles to use; you should have no problem filling it! If I was you always fill the blank grass with some objects such as: trees, water, rocks, bushes etc. Then detail the rest. SO it’s less space to detail! If you look in the White Box you will see some tiles and an example of how to use them! Also try not to use the mushrooms and the rocks in the centre on the levels, they block the player!
Cliffs:
Once again, it’s a bit straight and boring, flex it around a bit to make it more interesting! Also the grass on top should be a bit more exciting See Green Box!
Sparks Beginner Rating: 6/10
Overall its worth a low score compared to other levels from players who are good at it, so you’re good so far! Keep it up, and try some of my ideas!
