Any of these what you think would look good (obviously not 4)? If not, I'll redo the hilt with new colors, or just ditch the hilt all together and try a different design for it. The blade part I'm happy with and won't make very major changes to it.

Personally, I like none of them to the point of actually picking between any of them. 1st is too plain, second is just not enough, three seems best of the four out of the pick, four is fine as well but I just don't care for it. I kind of like the idea of just the stick, no side poky parts, make the blade the focus and let the hilt just be a bare basic hilt. (I know my terminology is just so advanced, I'm clearly a swords smith)

Think you can draw what you mean so I can use it as a reference?

your Shading isn't terrible, the biggest part is your color pallet. I found it hard to use. I hope you don't mind but i redid your sword trying not to alter the shape as much as possible. All i did was change the hilt allot...the biggest challenge was like i said using the colors that you chose. Instead of using allot of colors that all kinda look the same try using as few colors as possible to practice (ill post an example). But the sword itself wasn't bad, you will get more creative with shapes with time.

Ill probably post my finished product of the remake when i have more time to play with those colors. Then again, i may not be the best person to take advice from.

Keep it simple, not throwing colours everywhere :o

Few tips:
Colour selection, look my three attemps above. One is too light, the other too dark and the other's colors have a nice match and turned out nice

Shapes When making a weapon, make sure you use shapes instead of throwing colors everywhere

Alright, I like the advice, Its helping, however I'm stuck with the hilt design so I'll put that sword on hold for the time being. About to work on a sword that will be for a Wind Spirit type monster, heres the shape off the start, anything I should change before starting?

I don't know where or why but I had the goofy idea of editting your sword...

This is what I got.

What I have so far. I like the wind effect, but I think I may need cooler colors. Obviously, nothing is finished yet. I'm just posting this so you have an idea of what I'm going towards, and not just a rough outline. The blade colors I don't like, but I'm focusing on the effect for now. I'm looking for ideas on colors/designs, don't give criticism on the sword blade colors yet, as it's pretty much placeholder colors (feel free to suggest colors however), but I do want design criticism and wind design criticism.

The wind design is also in progress.
Keep in mind this is a very rough draft, and nowhere near perfect/completed. I'm only posting it because I want you guys to get the feel/idea for it, and not just a blank black skeleton of a blade design, and also it's my stopping point for today.

I was thinking of that, but I've never animated before. I'll give it a try later. Even though I called it quits for tonight on the blade, I do think I may attempt at messing around with .gif animation to get the feel for it.
