It maybe be possible for full transparent pixels (un-declared color value) but its not possible for semi-transparency which requires the alpha channel.

Ex of 24-bit Transparency (3x3 pixels):

FF0000, FFFFFF, 0000FF,
00FF00, -------, 00FF00,
990099, 888800, 00AA00

Center is full transparent, no color value.

Ex of 32-bit Transparency (3x3 pixels):

FF0000FF, FFFFFFFF, 0000FFFF,
00FF00FF, 0066AA00, 00FF00FF,
990099FF, 888800FF, 00AA00FF,

Center has color value, however alpha channel makes it full transparent.
Alpha can be adjusted for semi-transparency.
