Video-edit programms

Can someone tell me some FREEWARE video-editing programms(like Windows Movie Maker)?
I work with .wmv, since it's the only date my vista can read.
I hope you can help me, because Windows Movie Maker doesn't take my wmv

that's odd cuz wmv stands for windows media video, so moviemaker should be able to read it.

it adds the parts to the list, but I can't work with them, and the "videos" are just BLACK

There are no freeware programs that can edit .wmv files. VirtualDub could do it, and several others were able to do so in the past as well, but Microsoft doesn't like that, sooo...well, you know..
If the videos are black, chances are the file was created in a wrong way or is just corrupted because of any other random issue.

I don't have a whole lot to recommend

; I use Adobe Premiere Pro or iMovie, but the former is expensive, and the latter is for Mac.

If that's true, than you got scammed pretty bad.

I fixed the stuff with the Media Player by uploading a newer version.
