Yep. That's the biggest part of it.

It has nothing to do with how girls are psychologically. Watch two girls fight in real life and tell me they don't know anything about being vicious. Problem is, they don't always know how to apply that to games and stuff because they typically don't have as much practice. Like I said, find a girl who at least knows how to Hadouken, and she'll probably kick your ass if she's well-seasoned at fighting games.

I've never met a girl sparrer that would be considered on the same level as the other top tier sparrers (who are mostly male).

The only good girl sparrers that I've encountered were Aarian, Renee, Meryl, and maybe Raina.

i really don't think the male/female ratio problem can be discounted where this question is concerned. not if we're going to be fair.

to simplify: if you take a group of 9 guys and 1 girl? (selected at random) a male is going to come out on top in nearly any comparison or contest - most intelligent, best writer, singer, shortest, shiniest hair - just because of the numbers.

the only real way to test this kind of hypothesis would be to set up a tournament with equal numbers of equally inexperienced males and females.

Notice all girls mentioned either lag/delay in some way (mainly because of checking UDP); I would have to go Stella as my number girl because she actually has/had unchecked UDP.

equally experienced too = yes. i don't know why i completely failed to mention that, but you're right about it being necessary to THE GRAND EXPERIMENT.


and, yeah. guys are naturally more competitive. i'm definitely not disputing that. i only wonder how much it really has to do with sparring.

Thinking back, even though pretty much all aces have been male, most male players still suck. Most female (and "female") players I remember were pretty solid, giving them a better average skill level than the males, but maybe I just don't remember the bad ones.

As for me, it's pretty ridiculous how much I suck having been around for so many years.
