Well.. You could write an in-browser Java app that acts like a proxy and converts the TCP to UDP.. Hacky, but it'll work for sure. Not sure what the benefits would be, though, since latency would be increased.

There's also an AIR solution, which gives you native, raw access to UDP. AIR would require the engine to be repackaged as a desktop app, though. Not very difficult. The challenge would come from modifying the Graal protocol.

Except that if FB players were interested in downloading a desktop client, they probably would have downloaded the one we already have.
