Graal Free To Play on Facebook and Android

I just got a wonderful idea, to integrate PC, Facebook, and iPhone clients.

I dunno if you guys think it's a good idea, but maybe Thor's Classic server could be integrated into the Facebook/iDevice Servermap under the name of PC Classic, or Graal Adventure or something like that.

It would be a win-win situation.
Newbies on iPhone and Facebook would understand what Graal is supposed to be truly like, and experience a rich production (What Thor wants).
Unixmad and co. would get money by people paying for VIP/Gold so they can access the server without the severley limited Trial 5 hour limit on PC or no access at all on Facebook/iDevice without VIP.
Would I pay 3$ to access Thor's Classic with about 100+ people on my iPhone? Yes.

I simply think they should scrap Gold and implement the gralat/VIP system into PC, so all the clients can be interconnected.

I would rather not be associated with those versions of Classic, it's not even worth explaining how or why they are so different, they simply were never meant to be similar.
But even if that was to happen Classic's systems are entirely scripted rather than built-in, it would probably fry an iPhone.
Facebook however is a good possibility to aim for as Graal the Adventure.

PC Classic becoming Graal the Adventure on Facebook was actually something Stefan suggested on RC a few months ago, though I'm not sure if he was being serious or just attempting to coax us into helping iPhone/Facebook obtain new content. This was something I was willing to negotiate over and was even emailed by Unixmad but I received no further response.

Yeah... They really want you, because you're doing a beautiful job on the classic server, and the fact that you're almost literally 1-manning the whole server is amazing. I'm sure that's why they want you, is because you could give alot of content that the players want. They've been BEGGING for quests and new things to do on Facebook/iDevice Graal (era iphone delivers all of this because it is well developed by my standards,events, new guns, new minigames, great development staff from the get-go).
Try to contact them again and again. Hopefully you guys can work out something to get Graal the Adventure on Facebook, the community would LOVE it.

there really needs to be a volume bar for music/sound like the one on PC.. it's annoying when you hear sword slashing at a high volume while listening to a song at high volume

It's not something I would want to happen any time soon anyway, the fact is Classic is not yet ready to re-emerge on PC Graal.
I'd rather have it in a complete state offering enough things to do for new players, and enough end-game activity's for existing players so that it's capable of sustaining itself long term rather than just being a gamble that people will stay loyal to it for reasons external from the game itself.

We've been working on it from scratch for almost 2 years now and it's still some time off, but there's light at the end of the long tunnel. It is the next quest after the one we are currently working on that has always been our goal to shift the focus from questing and onto community based content in preparation for going live.

Flash 11 is supporting faster drawing and will make the game much faster. The current Facebook Classic should be fast enough for normal play, but can't display particles and seteffect because it would be too slow.

Alrite, also im sure I can speak for pretty much everyone when I say this. Find a way to disable the back space key from taking you to the previous page you visited in your web-browser. Also why is there no full screen?

Make an option so player can choose their own? Or would that be always and not depending on PC?

Stop using Safari. It´s just with that browser...


But I think it should be able to set different languages for the keyboard... Like on the german keyboard the keys are way different placed so you always have to find out like where the @ is for english keyboard.
And yea fullscreen would be nice.

Graal facebook is taking 50% of my cpu on a 2ghz dual core processor.

I've noticed the same problem on my Intel i3 M370 but it is only taking up around 35 - 40% of one of my cores on Google Chrome but 40 - 45% on Firefox.

Edit: Just checked and the native Graal client is only taking up around 20% meaning the flash version is much more CPU intensive than the native client but you'd expect it to be at least a little more intensive on Flash.

The impact Facebook Graal has made doesn't seem to be nearly as big as iOS Graal did in fact it seems like Facebook Graalians are actually having a negative effect (even more so when the hacks start being used ) on the existing iOS population.

Perhaps it would be better to keep the two communities game-play separate from each other, and then allow the native clients to connect to the Facebook world.

People will start spamming that FB graal should get released back and so on. I really like it for the iOS cause on FB it´s nicer and not that much spam everywhere with people rating pictures or whatever. It´s good to enjoy on there

A lot of UN's players seem to have migrated to the Facebook server as it's essentially the same casual type server not built to a specific design/niche, just with the higher playercount to interact with.
It could well provide an advantage for the real Classic to re-emerge.

Flash is perfectly capable of accessing the clipboard, so I don't see why this is a problem.

Exactly!
It seems like they disabled it purposefully, but I can't think of a single reason as to why...they allow copy/paste on iPhone Graal.

The 4 buttons on the right side are not really needed on Facebook but also help players to know which keys to use.
The hiding is fixed, you can disable hiding of players by server option nohidewithoutbush=true. There is a bug which is saving the hidden state to the player account and restoring it when you come back, but the player doesn't have a bush then and can continue to play hidden. The gserver will be updated soon to fix that.

Here is a bug I found while making my maze. It´s pretty old but I guess people started forgetting it. Probably its also on FB but I´m not sure (didn´t test yet). Maybe it should get fixxed.
Whats the bug: If you are on railtracks with draisine (Probably on wall) than you get into a curve and you will get "kicked" out of the track. Here is a screenshot:




Also while on FB Graal (iClassic or FB server) people keep telling me that my money is gone. But it isn´t. Probably it´s just hidden. Maybe that can also get fixxed

Fixed. It was hidding the money of non-iphone players in the profile (so that people cannot see staff money), I've added money display also for Facebook.

Suggestion: Have regular Graal subscribers get some sort of bonus. And something linking to the PC version of the game!
