Welcome to real life, where BMP is able to save in 24bit color and GIF can only save to 8bit.

ON the 8 bit standards though, I though 24bit cant have since 8 bits are for each Color (Red, Green, Blue) and an additional 8 bits for alpha which would make it 32 bit, am I correct or am I missing something?

Varying bit-depths are not static, they're logarithmic. Each color (RGB) doesn't occupy entire an octet, they occupy a entry in the bit set.

Why would you use Giffy to save a GIF when you can use IrfanView to save a PNG? If you can afford it, I prefer Fireworks, but Photoshop works aswell.

I use Giffy and that program Graal attached with their folder. MNG thingy.
