i think its essentially coins that you get for being on the winning team. each planet has their own specific coin and trader, with different guns for varied prices unique to each planet, to encorage people to play on all planets and actually play the game instead of lame bases.
(that was my idea, which was apparently the same as this one and i still havent read it)
