Zone-Gravity Hammer... wtf?? isnt that from Halo 3, and Graal's making money off of it selling it for gelats...

Playeroworld-Heads- Ive seen spiderman heads, kirby, luigi, toad, dbz, naruto, pokemon, and even WILL SMITH?

Im not sure if graals got permission to use some of theese but still, it would be nice to see some creativity.

Slapping gravity in front of an item/weapon isn't exactly original in its own sense, not even for Halo 3.

As for the heads... if the graphics aren't stolen from another source, and since heads really don't have 'names', there is nothing really wrong with it.

Rather than discuss the thread's topic, I sort of question the motive behind it. It doesn't strike me as one made with concern.

How do you know they are the ONLY people EVER to use, and copyright the gravity hammer?

Seriously, post some facts that show that Halo 3 was the first to ever use and copyright the Gravity Hammer.

I think if you concentrated more on the nature of his statement than the question he's asking you will see it's not worth persuit - so much so that I think he's just sour and trying to kick up some dust.

this.

If you're going to say it's your opinion, don't throw around words like copyright, which would mean it's a fact.

Like I said, Gravity -insert item here- isn't really original, so it's hard to say they stole it when who knows where it first appeared.

Let's be honest here, Zone's Gravity Hammer is a 2D version of Halo's

Doesn't bother me in the slightest whatever accusations he has. I have no need to defend Graal.

I just figure if he's going to ask a question and defend it, he should have some proof of his statements.

I don't think it's worth kicking up the dust for what strikes me as a petty reason - especially over something serious like this. I hope you agree, if not out of opinion than for the sake of conversation.

Only way I could see the set up for a lawsuit (I wonder if they would forward the DMCA to the support center?) is if the weapons were extremely similar (e.g. look the same, same purpose).

Don't forget the pokemon icons/guild names on Zodiac, the spiderman graal head, and the bat mobile on Era.

Nothing is original, and it's difficult to come up with your own original ideas because it requires people to "think outside of the box." The way the human brain functions, it recalls situations that it has previously experienced and it rearranges them, and that's how ideas are generated. Originality is overrated in my opinion, functionality and how well you can capture the audience is key, originally or not. I agree that people should use their head a bit more and stop copying and pasting in to Graal, but that's more of stealing than being unoriginal.

A proper easter egg of the Batmobile would be... say, a Catmobile, with a cat icon.

As for why, because when you see something called a Catmobile, you'll almost always think, HA! Batmobile. It's so obvious it's funny. There has to be an underlying message, pun, or humor behind an easter egg to give it reason rather than simply wanting to have something from another game.

Yeah I get what you mean actually. I just don't associate the Batmobile personally with Batman alone, because it's a sold out concept; they've had it in as easter eggs for those cars people collect, trains, tv shows, etc. There's a big list of that stuff on Wikipedia under Batmobile, "The Batmobile in popular culture".

I guess a good example of an easter egg in the gaming sense would be Konidias' *cough* Mario / Luigi / Wario / Waluigi outfits. Everyone has seen the outfits, they are not identical to the originals, but you can still see what they are supposed to represent. The hats are named "Cap of Stars (Red/Green/Yellow/Purple)" and the item descriptions are suggestive, "A red sturdy cap with a star emblem on the front; it makes you feel like jumping." etc. Another example of an easter egg on 2k1 is the description for the halo hat, "A floating golden ring discarded long ago by an angel.. just keep it away from fast moving hedgehogs." ..you get the point

Ya, I always loved those easter egg outfits on BI.

I can't really word what makes an easter egg different than just stealing it, but I'll stick to what I said before: you have to have some sort of underlying meaning to it, rather than just having it there because you want Mario on your server. Pay homage to the games, don't steal from them.

Too many easter eggs though can overpower original content, even if well-intentioned. If everyone is running around looking like Mario and Link, instead of wearing all the other original content, then you've got a problem.

I think the problem with the Gravity Hammer is that, as far as I know(admittedly, I don't play Zone so really don't know anything about the hammer), it's treated like every other weapon. There's no referencing to Halo 3 at all, there's no background story for it that honors Halo, and it's not really a novelty item. It looks the same, and more importantly, it's NAMED the same, there is no play on the name at all, which is a huge part of an easter egg. What would make the Gravity Hammer an easter egg item, rather than a stolen idea, would be to rename it to something like... Graviton Hammer, and give it a little story referencing Halo 3(like Rufus posted about the Mario hats, giving little details about who wears them[red meaning wanting to jump]).

Oh wow, what a blatant rip off. Someone should edit it.

Like I told Rufus: I think one of the staff made it, went to Stefan and said, "Hey, look at this cool weapon I made! I call it the Gravity Hammer!!!" Stefan, whom only plays Mario Kart, had absolutely no idea this even existed on Halo 3, and thought this kid had a brilliant idea.

It shouldn't even be called a Gravity Hammer, it doesn't look anything like a hammer.

The number of mario kart players is significantly larger than the halo players
We also had karts on Graal2001. We are not really doing an exact copy of other games, we more do stuff that is inspired by other games and reusing some ideas that fit in the Graal environment. Other games do the same, it's not like GTA invented the idea of gangs, guns or mini-games.

No, they didn't. But they also don't have the exact same thing that's in another game.

You can't use a parallelism argument tactic when there's no parallelism.

While Mario Kart may not have invented karts, and GTA may not have invented guns, it seems in this case, Halo 3 did invent this (name, look, and usage) gravity hammer.

It would be like having a character look like Link from Zelda and name him "Link" and have him as a playable character on the Graal character-select menu. Oh wait...

Your karts didn't shoot turtle shells and bananas, so they weren't a blatant rip-off of Mario Kart. Malinko's Mario items on UN, now those are rip-offs. Gravity Hammer on the other hand, is straight from Halo.

You shouldn't compare with GTA. GTA reflects realism, or at least tries to do so. Now think about what Halo or Mario Kart does.
