Current State Of Era

Claims in masses that era is back to square one. Not much gang activity anymore and that everybody is rich and has no more purpose to play. So i just want to get your opinions on this. Would you say this is true?

Are we back to square one with the gang system? Are we still progressing?

What's your current opinion on the current state of Era?

Raids are dead right now I agree, but I don't know why exactly since they were all so active last week. I think it's because spoiled players don't like raiding when x2/x4 points is not enabled.

I have noticed that myself. It seems when double points is activated the activity seems to rise. I then ask myself it's to gain more points to sell for money that would then rule out the "everyone is rich now" so they have no more goals.

If they're all rich then they wouldn't care that the points have been increased.

I noticed the gangs were put back to 4-5 gangs with larger member limits. Has the raiding decreased since that? People where telling me the gang system was starting to pick up with the larger amount of gangs with the smaller member limits. Why was it changed?

Didn't Swift quit Gang Admin? All the gang events/pushed raids and what not? That would seem to kill raids.

I believe he has quit, yes. I don't understand how having no gang admin would stop people from raiding?

Gang events can be hosted by the ETA, it was always that way for years.

Era does not have an actively involved group of people on the staff team who are pushing out updates/content constantly, which is why the game is showing decline.

The current gang system could be tweaked some where it'd be just fun enough for mindless, and complete random PK.
for example: endless unlimited PK in gang bases. no heal time, just constant respawn.
This means most of the time you log on, people are probably endlessly killing each other in a gang base.

This can almost re-assure that raiding would become regular again.
But this resolve has never been a solution the era staff team ever wanted to resort to because it's a byproduct of laziness.
Everyone also wants Era to be more strategy based, or skill based which this does not achieve.

I'll admit I probably shouldn't have combined all the gangs into 4 large gangs. I was so excited that it would work again due to the massive playercount boost we had during the time, but i was wrong.


if i were to make any suggestion to the team,
it would be either 1 of these:

solution 1: bite the bullet, and make gang raiding into an unlimited PK system with no respawn/heal time and enjoy what we can while people mindlessly shoot each other.

solution 2: develop new objectives / events for gang base raiding.
- capturing flags
- capture points (similar to KoTH)
- making new events, like gang races (a foot-race you PK in) or something. (be creative).
-award gang points / bonuses for completing the objects and events.

that's my opinion as of right now.

By this you mean the management team is inactive? Which type of updates/content are we talking about?

I believe this would be fun only for a little while before it becomes repetitive like the current system we have now.

I do believe gangs do need objectives. You need a reason to raid and without one nobody will raid. However, i do not believe race type events is the way to achieve that.

I understand that. Not sure the player base would enjoy gang races though. Maybe they would. I guess you wouldn't know until you tried it, just my opinion.

Maybe introduce wacky races and you run through checkpoints and gain bombs and shiz that you blow up the guys behind or infront.. (we jokes)

That's pretty much what I had in mind.

It wouldn't be a foot-race solely. There would be sections that you have to wait for a door to open, so PKing goes on in those pockets.

I dunno man. Just weird random ideas I've thought of for objective-based PKing.

I don't actually think the draft system will ever be sucessful with the current mindset of the players. Players want to play with their friends, Wil is the exception. He's willing to jump gangs to balence them out. The problem is this doesn't last, gangs will eventually go back to be one sided.

Aside from that, anything new that's released is going to be popular. The problem is it's going to become so over used that it gets old fast. I remember logging on and players would beg me to host some event. And I would, but a week later I could host the very same event and no one would join.

You're right. I guess any changes it'll just eventually get out-played and become boring again. However, i believe that with a good consistent Gang Administrator constantly changing things up the raiding activity will keep up. I've never witnessed a gangs admin just changing things up or releasing weekly content, special prizes, and just basic fun stuff.

I believe the only way gangs can consistently enjoy raiding and pking is if their GA keeps on top of the system, maintains it, changes it and makes sure theres always something to do. This way it cant become old or boring because they're always being entertained.

That's all it really is... Entertaining the players. It's not about this "super gang system" that we need. Yes we need something quite better that balances out the gangs now but it's only a small part of it. The other part is what i said above.

Totally off topic;

I remember a year or so ago when I was capable of buying a "Gun Sim" off of the administration for $20,000,000 but that's when money was actually valuable.

Now I'm sitting back at $14,000,000 and nothing really catches my eye, I have no desire for any item or items.

I've basically lost a lot of motivation since SP has hit a bad state in sales due to the immense price buff that renders healing a non-profit thing.

I had a lot of plans for Gangs that I had typed out but honestly, they are too complex and would require too much work for the lazy "Staff Team" to implement.

I've basically become Seyeme (The owner of Gun Point) logging on for 30 minutes every couple of days and paying people who have stocked the 100 or so pizza's that get bought out a week.
