It would be really nice if Graal could suport APNG (Animated PNG files).

They aren't that popular yet, but there are several editing programs for them.

APNG would be better than animated GIFs for animation because it supports more than 256 colors.

Wondering if anyone else would like to see this implemented?

mng died.

I used to use it ... not anymore. Animated GIFs killed it. Does graal (v5) even support it anymore?

If people aren't willing to use MNGs, they aren't going to be willing to use APNGs.

MNG really doesn't have any type of benefit because it's basically converted from a GIF. So whatever limitations GIF has, so will the MNG created from it. On the other hand, APNG has the benefits of more colors. I mean... who needs more than 256 colors in one animation, but I'm sure some people will sooner or later.

Your link tells us that the standard was rejected.

There is little point in implementing a rejected standard when people are not even prepared to use MNG.

APNG is in the new Firefox GP Alpha, so this is probably going to make it get considerably more popular (once v3 is released)

APNG support sounds interesting, should be quite easy to add.

MNG is practically an animated png, but not many programs support that, possibly because supporting the full MNG capabilities is quite complex or may be they just don't want to display animated graphics. APNG is also working in programs that only know of the normal PNG stuff and then only display the first frame, while advanced programs can display the full animation.
