Global News Team Positions

Due to the recent inactivity and the decline of our members we have decided to look for additions to the team. To apply for the position please answer the questions below. This is a Global staff team and we will only be accepting mature applicants. Applications can be private or public (Public should be posted in a new thread and private applications can be sent to me via either e-mail or forum pm) but public are preferable. The position will require the writing and distribution of news as well as supporting server staff in the writing and distribution of their own news if they require help.

Questions

Does your account hold a Gold or Classic subscription? (A Classic subscription is required at the very least).
Do you have any experience with editing Wikipedia pages (MediaWiki or other)?
Write a short paragraph expressing why you want to join the team.

Optional Questions

Previous staff positions on Graal (optional).
References from previous or current staff positions (optional).

Who says the hiring is over? Maybe those were the two only worth-while applicants so far.

Quite true, he didn't say that the hiring process was finished, just that they were taking on myself and RegretZ on a trial basis.

Announcing that people have been hired does suggest that the hiring is over. However, even if it isn't closed that doesn't mean that there are not going to be better applications than the two already hired.

I see no point dragging the process on even longer when we've found two applicants that we think are talented and enthusiastic enough for the position. On top of that they are only trial members and I am still encouraging further applications but at the time being these two look like promising additions to the team.

You're really not giving everyone a chance. You might think you are by keeping applications open for a position you say has been filled, but you're not. All applications should have been evaluated to get the very best, and just because two players applied within a day does not mean they're more talented or enthusiastic than other people who might be interested. It seems to me as though it was a closed hiring, but I really don't want to stretch this out into a long argument. This was just really unfair, and had it happened on any other hiring we find on Graal, it would not have went down very well.

Felix is not going to hire anymore trials right now any too see how the selected 2 do during their trial periods. If it doesn't work out for some reason, i'm sure he will looking for a replacement(s). Since this thread is still open, i wouldn't be surprised if he's making it an open application, but we'll see !

Am I wrong? Is it unfair that two people were hired within 36 hours of the application being posted for a position that there may be more suitable people for? Seem to be ignoring that part.

I'll admit it was pretty fast. I fully expected to waiting a few days for a response but I still the think the process is being handled fairly. Applications are still being accepted and considered so everyone is getting their opportunity.

How is everyone being considered when there are two hired already? If he expects one to fail then he shouldn't have hired them. If he expects there to be better, he should have hired them. It sounds really stupid to me, but I'm done with this as I don't care that much, just strikes me as unfair.

I don't recall is being stated anywhere that there was only 2 vacancies. Whats to say he isn't looking for a 3rd/4th member.

The News team has recently had a large decline in members which has contributed to some inactivity within the team. If this turns out to be the wrong decision I take full responsibility for it but with Christmas coming up I wanted to try and make this process as quick as possible to try and hopefully get the new members to contribute news for the Christmas season.

Not saying I would have been hired, but I saw the thread yesterday and had planned on applying tonight. I'm not saying I would have been any better of a candidate than either of the guys hired (I don't know either of them tbh), but Rufus wasn't spouting out conspiracy theories.

Whats stopping you from still applying? The process is on going and whats to say the news team isn't looking for at least another member. As I can remember the team usually ran with 5-6 members, and currently has 4, including myself and regretz who are only trial members anyway.

Let's not repeat ourselves, it was kinda unfair.

Applications still open? Alright, now tell me why would someone else applying be hired? Naith and Regretz have been hired already (even as trials only), which means they will probably do good and thus keep their job. This, for me, means that applications are closed.

But nowhere did it ever state that only 2 people were being hired in the team. The news team recently lost Nat, Chris and SN so hiring only 2 trial members still leaves a gap in the team for perhaps one or two more additions. In any case if someone really badly wanted the job, they wouldn't just give up as soon as someone gets hired thinking their chance is gone. I really do urge everyone who has been put off from applying because of what happened to seriously reconsider and put in an application.

Forgive me but I am having a hard time not taking this debate personally. But I am, I am getting the feeling that people don't think that myself or RegretZ have what it takes to do this job.

Agreed, the tone is easily detectable. Although people may not think they're insulting people, they are technically criticizing Felix's decision, and so therefore us also.
