Demon Tail has always been
very highly overrated.
First off, it's common, common as corn. The thing comes out of every single type of box/basket/thing ever made. Then it is evented and raffled off even more-so on top of that.
Its benefits include:
-Some Resistances, most don't even work.
-Half a hit worth of health.
As opposed to other slot items such as a CoMP or BTail...
CoMP: Increases your overall armor class -- reducing damage from every single hit (effectively totaling more than 30hp during a fight) and allowing you to achieve max AC levels, making every PvE task a slice of pie. [It will cost maybe 2-3 tigs]
BTail: Dex, improving your poison endurance (lose less stats) and giving more gear opportunities. Speed, and as we all know the first +1 speed in any given slot adds the most overall speed. So this 1 vs 0 is a few whole .#'s. And luck for blessing. [Costs about a RoW now, is publically available through xmas/kvasir chests]
Hell, I'd rather rock some [free/1 tig] featherfolks for the .3 speed (dodge that 1 hit) than blow any significant amount of currency for a useless slot item such as DT.
That being said, I have all 4... and I've only equipped this DT once -- during a magic spar some time ago.

And for the record 5445 silver would only get you 108 plat, significantly short of the 920/960 required to buy a single EA/IWD/PW should you spawn one. It was a clear case of sarcasm, but then again Mr (lolasst) GPA wouldn't know that.
