Looks better, but not by much.

There's several ways to shade, don't ever pillow shade!!!
Instead use differing, this is a technique where you use a bunch of shapes or whatever to transition from one colour to another and define a light source.
I made up a quick example in paint. Light casts from top left and creates a shadow on the sphere. I think use(attempt) dithering to smooth out the light transition. You'll find you can use any shapes to dither(circles, triangles, spirals).
